I would have liked to have given this an 8, but something just didn’t sit right for me.
I found the film creepy scary, rather than normal horror scary, if that made any sense. I suppose it made me uneasy in a bad way.
I had a quick read on Google and it’s based on a true story, but they’ve chosen to change things in a peculiar way.
It’s still a decent horror film to watch.
I really loved the supernatural elements to this movie, but all of the weird drama really ruined the whole thing for me. They tried to do basically 3 different stories but they couldn’t spend enough time on any of them to make it worthwhile. It was just a jumbled up mess that left the majority of the movie pretty boring.
Quite disappointing really. I like haunted house movies, especially those that are set in previous time periods, but this one underwhelmed. As such, i have banished it from my watchlist so it never haunts my tv screen again.
Could potentially lead to something better than this. I don't like how dull it was. It has cool ideas but don't know how to put them together. I know it set in 1930s but the Nazi thing felt unnecessary as it has nothing to do with the plot, just create more confusion. So yeah, it's just another generic haunted house film. On the bright side, you won't get any cheap jumpscares. I love the production, creepy atmosphere, great visual with some cool imagery, and Jessica Brown's strong performance!
