The Biggest Little Farm 2019

Full disclosure: the only thing I hate more than nature is farming... so of course I was shocked when I found I actually liked The Biggest Little Farm, a documentary about a couple who create a self-sustaining farm.

I was totally unprepared for how much I would care for these people and invest myself in the success of their venture. It's not my fault, though, because the film tricked me into liking it with its beautiful images (the husband is a professional nature videographer) and its engaging soundtrack.

If you think you might be even remotely interested in this film about plants and animals and how well put together nature really is, then you should probably definitely see it.

Very interesting film to make it clear to those who are not part of that sector, what work and what effort is behind the construction of a farm. I appreciated how they decided to show both the positives and the negatives, the shots were absolutely perfect and they managed to show the true beauty of that landscape.

Don't come to this movie to learn anything. This is for rich white people to work on their bad analogies and epiphanies during a series of realizations that farming is hard. If Lifetime wanted to tell you about farming, they'd plug the metrics into their cliche writing bot, focus on hands gripping healthy soil, and make sure to humanize the thought process of a dying pig. Would you be happy for the rich white people.Does it matter they're rich and white? Well, the story-telling is along the lines of "we just did this, we just did that" as though the money, lesson, and investment was laid out before them as a righteous path they deservedly took. In that sense it kind of matters I guess.

If you actually want to learn about farming, or have less than what appears to be hundreds of thousands of dollars (that still can't afford an adequate fence) I guess you'll have to make due with what you have or read about more than what you can buy.
