A bit too cheesy for me to overly enjoy, but 'The Bridges of Madison County' is a sweet romantic drama.
Clint Eastwood and Meryl Streep are a strong pairing and produce very good performances, with Streep particularly standing out... even if her acting Italian doesn't always feel convincing, to me anyway. The parts of the story told via Annie Corley and Victor Slezak aren't the best, though the eventual pay-off with their characters is worthwhile.
The pacing in this movie is so tight you could set your watch by it. IT's very well filmed. A great love story that blooms well and Meryl Streep is unrecognizable for half the movie which is fun.
*Meryl Streep Italian Style*
Meryl Streep is absolutely astonishing. I forgot it was her ten seconds into the film. That opening breakfast scene where all of her story is written in her magnificent face. As an Italian I know there is no acting involved here. She IS Italian. She reminded me of Anna Magnani in "Bellissima" there is not a single false note. Clint Eastwood, clearly, dedicates the film to her and the results are pure magic. The film is based on an unreadable book- at least I couldn't get through it, in spite of the brevity of the volume - the film however, is bound to become a classic thanks to the powerful chemistry of the stars. If you love film, like I do, I recommend you to see it once and let yourself be taken away by the truths in Meryl's eyes then go again and take note. Look at every one of her moments, from how she closes the refrigerator door to her laughter. Look at her reaction when she discovers that Clint stopped at Bari, her home town, just because he thought the place was pretty. Look at her hands, her walk and then go back to her eyes. It's a treat of the first order. Clint, in front as well as behind the camera, does a miraculous job. I passionately recommend it, no matter how young you are.
I 100% suggest the bridges of Madison county! It's an incredible experience watching it.
My Score: 8/10.
A beautiful story that shows people are not perfect, but emotional creatures trying to do the best we can
Underrated film by those who do not understand how much value it has. Two of the best actors in history together in a love story.
I felt like this movie was kinda stupid. So Meryl Streep's character Francesca is of Italian heritage and the trope here is Italians are passionate people and guess what Francesca is living a life devoid of passion. An opportunity presents itself for her to jump in the truck of a total stranger played by Clint Eastwood who IRL was 19 years her senior. Sure he travels the world taking pictures but he's not exactly Mr. Passion. So I get the impression she would have been attracted to just about anyone with her family gone for 4 days. This undermines the entire premise of the film. It does get a lot better late in the 3rd act if you can put aside all the nonsense.
I had finish to see this movie right now. I don't know if I loved it 'cause I'm living something similar, but I feel really afraid thinking how sad and difficult is to suffocate some feelings for the pain. The pain to being judged by people. The pain to be not including. It would be most difficult and most fearful living a life that doesn't belong to us anymore. But at the end, I loved this movie 'cause a real big love it was eternal.
It is a story of infidelity and sex of a person in 4 days while her family was not at home. The performances of Meryl Streep and Clint Eastwood are terrific! It may be that some people who are unhappy in their marriages feel identified, but the plot where the children in the end happily accept the situation seems ridiculous to me. I cannot qualify it as a good movie, it's only good the performance of the main actors.

One of the worst movies I have ever seen.
