Very good movie! Recommended by me to you all!
Okay movie, lacked tension.
I was really excited to see this movie appear on Netflix after I saw the trailer a while back but it didn't really meet my expectations.
The plot is decent and Dylan McDermott can definitely deliver the serial killer/dad part but the story was told pretty dull.
Kassi is a cool character, she carried this movie forward.
I was caught of guard when Tyler confronted his dad at gunpoint, didn't see that coming, nice touch but the ending completely ruined that. I get that he'd want to protect his mom and sister from the heartbreak of learning that their husband/dad was a serial killer but it felt wrong especially since Tyler and Kassi killed him, which even if he was a serial killer who wouldn't stop, makes them bad people as well. He was unarmed and out cold at that point so they basically executed him. Also, what bothers me about this movie (and many other movies in which teens are the main characters) is that at no point do they contact the police. They go about it themselves jeopardizing their own safety as the lady who was tied up in her house.
[slight spoiler] Although the plot was decent I thought the characters were a bit bland. Some parts seemed a bit unbelievable as well, why not just contact the police? I get that he doesn't want all of this out but honestly, he should have let the police handle it.
It was still an okay movie, just not THAT great.
Some of the things could have been resolved pretty quickly with a call to the cops but otherwise it was a pretty good mystery movie. I kind of called it pretty early but it was still enjoyable to see how it all played out.
This movie reminds me of my childhood favorite horror film Silver Bullet, just more subdued and realistic. Love this film.
A good little film entertains no real surprises in plot or outcome, but hey sometimes it’s still a fun ride right??
A good movie until it isn't. The slow burn was good, the acting was good, the tension was good.
But it lacks one critical thing - common sense. Nobody thinks to call the cops, and any reasoning for not doing so isn't well conveyed to the audience. Meh.
A Son suspects his Dad is a Serial Killer from a small town that the victims murderer was never caught. With the help of a girl he meets suspicion starts to get traction as the son finds victims memorabilia in his Dad's shed and crawl space under their house. Killer is played by Dylan McDermott from American Horror Story fame.
not too good..weak and not exciting
A mind provoking film and the inter dynamics between family and secrets. This film really takes you out of the box in relation to conscience and family entanglements.... what would you do? Scary stuff that keeps you on the edge of your seat.... uncomfortably
Honestly, the film is a tremendous waste of time. the end is the life of everything ... but if you want to regain your patience, you will have preferred another film.
McDermott is chillingly credible as the killer of the title, and Plummer does a fine job as the son trying to come to terms with the truth about his father. A good film.

A bleak and melancholy flick with smatterings of tension and sub-context. Really well handled subject matter with many meaningful questions asked about the family unit, close knit communities and the secrets veiled by those you think you know so well. Great stuff.
