Earth has a deadline.
Geophysicist Dr. Josh Keyes discovers that an unknown force has caused the earth's inner core to stop rotating. With the planet's magnetic field rapidly deteriorating, our atmosphere literally starts to come apart at the seams with catastrophic consequences. To resolve the crisis, Keyes, along with a team of the world's most gifted scientists, travel into the earth's core. Their mission: detonate a device that will reactivate the core.

the core of the earth is stopped, I still like it, I like it when people group together to do something

'The Core' is one of the top soft sci-fi B-movies of the early 2000s.

Notice that I said soft sci-fi. It boasts a ridiculous plot, and possibly the most unsciencey science you'll ever see on film — but it also has an eclectic cast of surprisingly-competent actors, considering the uneven and sometimes cheesy material they are working with. It even has pretty decent special effects for a B-movie.

Of course, Neil Degrasse Tyson would probably have a brain embolism watching this film, but you know what? Maybe he should just cool it a bit and enjoy a stupid movie every once in a while. Not everybody enjoys having fantasy films "science spoil-sported" or listening to someone announce officiously (for example) that BB-8, a smooth rolling spherical ball droid, would have skidded uncontrollably on the sand dunes of Jakku.

Dude. Seriously.

This movie isn't going to win any science or film awards, but it's fun and heroic, and it's got some real momentum.

So unrealistic, a bit of a cliche. Basically, it's so bad that you'll love it (and probably see it more than once, just like everyone else has). xD
