This small, incomplete review holds no real spoilers.
Jennifer Lawrence turned up the acting switch a notch. Might be her best performance till date overshadowing 'winter's bone' while showing her great talent and potential of her becoming a movie superstar (if she isn't already bc of her internet popularity and looks.)
This part was more balanced as the last movie, and sets the emotional trigger on sharp for the finale next year.
Again a compliment to Elizabeth Banks who captures the role of Effie amazingly well. Even though she originally wasn't supposed to be on screen until the finale, the creators and writer Suzanne Collins decided to let her replace Plutarch's assistent so she could be in this movie, which was a wise decision imho to use a familiar face in stead of a unknown side character.
I was a bit disappointed about the lack of influence of Natalie Dormer, but we might have to wait for the last movie for that to happen.
Sidenote: It is harder to find a movie without Julianne Moore nowadays, than one with her lol.
There is a lot of conversation, the biggest part due to this being the politics part in the story. This is a big part of stories base after all, and is important in its message.
I really was surprised they used the 'Hanging tree' song in the movie, I kinda suspected they would skip it, and it was a great surprise and a good decision the didn't. It has a lot of importance for Katniss, since it depicts the struggle of the districts against the capitol, and her relationship with her family (mainly her dad) and later with Peeta.
Lawrence is definitely not a singer though, she doesn't have the voice for it hehe. Good thing they have computers nowadays.
Depending on how part 2 will turn out, I think they made a good choice in splitting the movie in two, even though it is probably done just for the cash and not for storytelling.
I like it, but still love the books more!
A very different film from the first two, not least because there are no actual games, rather the film picks up straight after the last entry to deal with the consequences of that finale. And in truth, whilst this may be down to the source material, it is a welcome decision as another games would have been repetitive and they have fulfilled their purpose both in the context of the story and the themes they explored. Unfortunately this film has two key flaws - the decision to split the film into two was clearly financial and it shows too, despite the best efforts of the filmmakers. And in focusing more on the least interesting aspect of the plot so far - that of the dull love triangle that our heroine up to now has pushed to one side - they diminish the strong character they have worked so hard to establish as Katniss pines over her lost boyfriend instead of focusing on the far more important aspect of winning a revolution. But despite these flaws, the film is still a worthwhile entry. Jennifer Lawrence has been fantastic as Katniss and she continues to show her worth to this series, lending Katniss a vulnerability beneath her strength and determination that make her so watchable. Put simply these films would not work as well without her. Despite the decision to split the story into two, the filmmakers have also hit upon an interesting theme to explore, bringing to the fore the role of the media in manipulating the public. It was always present in the films, but here it is far more prevalent. Terrorist or freedom fighter ? It is certainly an interesting vein to develop though in truth there is a lot of padding to ensure a further entry and the film never escapes from the feeling that a single entry to complete the story would have resulted in a much stronger film.
What a waste of money. Literally nothing happens in this movie.
I rate it "can Finnick mock my Jay?" out of ten
The Hunger Games series is basically just your average action movie, what makes it entertaining and refreshing is that they’ve given the women the interesting roles, while the men get the roles that are usually played by women. This is especially noticeable with the characters Katniss and Peeta, and the roles they play in each other’s stories.
THE UGLY: ‘THE HUNGER GAMES: MOCKINGJAY - PART 1’

FEEL: 60
NOVELTY: 50
ENJOYMENT: 60
RE-WATCHABILITY: 45

THE GOOD:
This film and the second part are easily the most depressing and dark entries in the series. The film manages to capture the fierce force of the resistance and the terrors of the Capitol better than the novel ever did and there is a sense of war and uprising never palpably present in the book.
With Peeta mostly left in the shadows, the story allows Katniss and Gale to bond in ways they haven't been able to until now.
Unlike the source novel, which left much of the action to the background, this film drops us into the middle of it. We go beyond Katniss' point of view, which is better for the overall story.
Suzanne Collins manages to make President Coin an incredibly repulsive and annoying character in the novel, and that carries over to the film, mostly thanks to a fine performance from Julianne Moore.
THE BAD:
The war propaganda filmmaking is a lengthy and mostly pointless part of the last novel, and it doesn't feel much better in the film version, despite being a good way to naturally bring in some emotional moments into the story.
Katniss is a constant pain in the ass throughout this entire movie so it’s difficult to sympathize with her.
I can't help but feel that this film is just a lengthy introduction to the emotional finale that is Part 2. As such, this is the weakest entry in the series.
THE UGLY:
Katniss going from a reality show star to a TV ad star feels like a career downgrade.
THE VERDICT:
The first half of the final Hunger Games movie is a lengthy introduction to the final battle, with a slower pace and lesser tension than in the previous entries, making this the weakest film in the franchise.
57% = :heavy_minus_sign: = UGLY
I think what I love most about this movie (apart from the scenes of genuine spirit that give me goosebumps every time, especially the hospital and the dam scenes) is the fact that even after Katniss has left the Capitol behind, the real pain and suffering she and others experience is still being recorded, and dressed up, and used to further someone's agenda - even if it is for a good cause and not about deceiving people or frightening them, it still feels a little wrong. What a brilliant move to have the marketing for this movie use the same font as the propos. While the first two movies already had some realistic moral ambiguity (e.g. the question of how much you're willing to compromise your integrity in order to survive), this movie finally makes clear the fact that while the Capitol definitely isn't good, the fight against it is not (perhaps can not be) as heroic and pure as one might hope.
It feels long and slow compared to the other movies of the franchise with less action and more politics. It's not a bad thing because it's different and we see how Katniss is used by everyone. Unfortunately, it's done poorly and shows that splitting the last book in two movies was not a good choice.
The soundtrack was better than the film in my opinion. I was a little bit bored in some areas an... was it worth making Mockingjay into two parts I mean pulling a Twilight...
Acting was superb however props to Jennifer Lawrence for showing a different side to Katniss Everdeen and also to Josh Hutcherson's acting was flawless.
I'm basically just giving this a bitter score because I found the Mockingjay book just as boring compared to THG or CF.
This is the third movie in the Hunger Games series. I better state right away that I have not read the books so I do not know how good the books are or if the movies actually follow the book. However, if the movies are any indicator then I will probably not bother to read the books. So far these movies have been a display in overhyped mediocrity as far as I am concerned.
The previous movies had a somewhat ludicrous setup with people running around in ridiculous hair-do and makeup. I was not too thrilled about it but at least it gave the movie some originality. So did the games themselves. This one lacks all of that. It could be any one of a dozen post-apocalyptic stories.
The movie plods along at a fairly leisurely pace, sometimes it is quite dull and slow, with some outbursts of action. Katniss herself is really not taking much active part except for being a front figure and propaganda element for the rebellion. In order to milk the series as much as possible for money (I see no other reason why it was done) it was decided to break the third book into two movies. I would say that this movie is a good example as to why that is generally not a good idea.
The acting is on par with the movie. It is decent enough but nothing to write home about. Then since most of the movie really is about Katniss hulking and moaning about the unfairness of it all it is maybe not too surprising that I found most of it somewhat uninspired and dull. The same can be said about the special effects. Actually I found most of them to be rather underwhelming. There were also a fair amount of lost moments. For instance the attack on the dam. It could have been made into something nice but instead we get a ludicrous display of a bunch of unarmed people running straight against machine guns planting some bombs and then poof goes a model dam.
Having now seen three out of the planned four movies I am of course going to see the fourth one as well but I am definitely not going to be in a rush to go and see it.
I wanna kiss you alllllll ovaaaaaa....and over and agaaaaaiiinnnnnn ..bom bom bommmmmmmm...till the NIGHT closes innnnnnnn... TILL THE NIGHT CLOSES INNNNNNNN!!!!!
Watched the movie today and sadly it didn't add up to my expectations, and the hype that everyone was making. It is very dull. They wasted great actors like Julianne Moore. The whole movie is just all over the place. I think there was only one arrow shot. They didn't even show the cinematic effect of the bombing of the rebel base. Just some reaction of the actors - not enough. I'd like to remember some scenes while doing this review, but none really stood out, just the face of Katniss with a confused face.
Really, this was the first from the HG franchise that I was expecting it to be, y'know, better than the first 2. But nah, I'll just keep on remembering the scenes from Guardians of the Galaxy and looking forward to The Battle of the Five Armies.
Not sure if this is the worst in the franchise, I really don't remember much of the last part in the quadrology. But it's definitely down there as the two first movies are pretty good.
The best thing this movie has to offer is definitely "The Hanging Tree" song, when Lawrence sings it and definitely when the choir of people join in, that felt great during the riot scene, besides that song, James Newton Howard delivered with it's soundtrack. Say what you (and I) will about this movie, the musical section of the movie is great!
The rest of the movie is an absolute borefest. Boring! I get the political aspects and the messages the franchise has to offer. I agree with all of it and they should let us see it. But not for 2 hours, because that's basically the only thing the movie does. It starts with it, it builds it up and ends with it. There's not much to say about this movie, it's political, it's unnecessary long and really shouldn't have been a movie on it's own.
However.. if they did make it a trilogy, the last movie would've probably been too convoluted for it's own good and demographic.
I'll leave this "review" on a high note; the moment I first saw this movie released, besides its good music, it gave us the best performances of both Lawrence and Hutcherson's (to that date). Their acting went up a level and especially Hutcherson delivered.
The good musical score, the song, the acting.. It was all good, but couldn't save the movie in the end, as all the interesting aspects of the politics and propaganda made it a long-winded movie that I wasn't waiting for in the end.
4 (Poor)
If you wanted an action packed flick like the first two or you are the type of fan who doesn't like stuff in the book to be left out, you will be sorely disappointed as this is clearly a filler movie to get some extra $$$ before the series ends.
Huge disappointment. After such strong movies before, this was a total let-down.
Streamed it on Amazon Instant Movies and while it is a little predictable, also the 3rd part of the Hunger Games delivers IMHO! It features great action and an intersting enough story.
While I can understand that some people aren't thrilled with part 2 and 3 because Catching Fire is partly a reenactment of Part 1 and the latter a bit too predicatable, I do not understand why those same people are so surprised by this: it (the Hunger Games series / movies) is the typical Good VS Evil setting, divided in 4 parts, what did you expect? Basically one could argue that LotR, Harry Potter or Star Wars already told us how such stories end! But I mean come on, its still great entertainment and a lot of action in a pretty cool setting. Thats enough for a (very) good time, I think.
After three movies I can say with certainty that I'm not a fan of the series. I got bored
Ok, it's more heavy on the story.
Great about that is that it's well done. Acting again great.
Special is the "hanging tree" scene, it was breath taking (and this from a man ;-))
Now we have to wait a year to know the rest. I can understand this decision, but i'm not fan of it.
Definitely part of a whole, as people have identified, but that didn't bother me - though I understand that a lot were bothered by it. I dunno if it's because I expected it or I know all the stuff that's gonna go down in the last one and how amazing it will be...
I'd give it a 9 or 10, but with that lack of structure, I can't.
The scene with the hanging tree though... ten thousand million forever stars. Cried a lot. Will haunt me.
I haven't read the books, but want to since a long time ago, and I did read some reviews of this movie implying that "nothing happens in this movie, that it's the longest trailer ever, etc..." so I was afraid this was going to be dull or something. But God was I amazed... I actually liked this very much. I don't know if this didn't have as much action as expected, and it may be my taste, because I like slow movies if they're done right and if they interest me. I think it's an amazing prelude for what happens next and AGAIN I haven't even read the books. Lastly, lol I guess that the people that complain that nothing happens are a) people that haven't read the books and expected it to have more action like the previous movies and wanted to know the end and wanted it to be fast; b) people who have read the book and think that they should've shortened it, skip the 'boring part', and if that would've been the case they would complain that it didn't follow the book!!! that it should be divided, etc etc.
Judging this film is troublesome, as it truly is just part of a whole. Until Part 2 comes out, its hard to tell whether this installment properly builds into the climax that is promised; or whether it's a drawn out cash grab. And there in lies the problem. Mockingjay Part 1 isn't a bad film, I rather enjoyed it, but it represents the calm before the storm, and if the storm dissipates at sea all the build up is for naught. And even as a standalone movie, it has problems. There just isn't a lot there, even after adding scenes not from the book (though the rescue scene ends up being the most visually interesting of the entire film). And yet, it still somehow manages to miss on a lot of aspects. Characters aren't built up or connected well enough, especially considering that's all Part 1 is supposed to do. Finnick and Gale are underused, and the conflict between Kat and Coin is underrepresented. And unfortunately we have to wait an entire year to see if these shortcomings are a fatal flaw or if everything comes together in a powerful way. Besides all of that, the actors are all doing their best, even when there isn't a lot to work with, Philip Seymour Hoffman and Woody Harrelson being the clear stand outs.
First one in the series that I liked. Nice world building and better acting than before. Ultimately though, not much happens. In the same vein as Harry Potter 7 1/2, it is mainly a commercial for the last film. This realy shows in the budget and runtime. Still, enjoyable film and if you have been following the series thus far, you are not going to skip one at this point.
Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 is a compelling addition to the series, skillfully building on the plot of the first two films. It delivers plenty of action with impressive effects, making it a captivating watch. Personally, I found myself enjoying this installment even more than the first two, thanks to its engaging storyline and well-executed scenes.
Well it seemed like not a lot happened in this. I still liked it though but I definitely missed the hunger game scenes. At least Luke Hemsworth had something to do in this.
Back then we didn’t know how lucky we were to have film series like these … we really took those for granted. So glad we get a new one after so many years!!!
Right from the start of the first part of the finale of the "Hunger Games" movies, I was annoyed by how often Jennifer Lawrence's Katniss said, "Where's Peeta?" or "We have to save Peeta". Peeta is the most boring character for me, so that really didn't help. What I found fascinating, though, was the approach that Katniss isn't the badass leader of a rebellion but rather is used as a propaganda plaything by the powers that be. The only thing I missed was a resolution to this plot thread, which is certainly due to the fact that "Mockingjay" was released in two parts. With a single film, one or the other length could certainly have been avoided. As it is, I still find "Mockingjay - Part 1" solid but significantly weaker than "Catching Fire".
There’s this interesting thing I’ve heard people say: “Heroes are the ones who would sacrifice anyone to save the world, while a villain would let the world burn to save the ones they love.”
If you think about it in that way, then Katniss and Peeta aren’t really heroes. They care more about saving each other than any revolution or rebellion. Saving their loved ones is their number one priority. They’re not classical heroes, which honestly makes them a lot more interesting to me.
Truthfully, Gale is more of a hero in this story than either of them, but does that mean he is necessarily a better person? I don’t know. What I do know is that it makes him feel less real or authentic.
While Gale is fighting to save the world, Katniss is fighting to save the ones she loves. It’s a different motivation, and although it might not make her a hero, it does make her a beautiful person:heart:
The Hunger Games without any hunger games… It doesn’t quite have the same ring to it, but the movie was still interesting in its own way:thinking:
Probably would rate it 7.6. It was a pretty good movie but some of the dialogue seemed too forced, almost like there was a lot of 1 take scenes
The editors used different recordings for Katniss’s speech, the recorded version she puts more emphasis on “with us”
This movie felt a bit calmer than the previous one but I guess it's the quite before the storm. It's not like it was boring or anything but the pace simply seemed to have slowed a bit. The pace did however get faster towards the end.
The silent/quiet intro (logos at the begining) was strange.
Katniss is even more broken now but it looks like she's slowly recovering.
The secret headquarter at district 13 is cool and pretty geared up (unlike the resistance fighters from the other districts).
It is strange though that they can fly around in their aircraft and remain undetected by the capitol (they seem to have quite a few cameras and I would expect them to have an advanced radar/satellite system as well).
Snow apparently isn't sick but got poisoned in the past (how ironic).
It seemed a bit risky to take the cat (buttercup) with them from the victors' village without a scan (or did they just not show it?). Could've been bad if the military forces were smart enough to put a tracker on her (but then again it's unlikely that they know who the cats owner is).
And the last demand: "My sister gets to keep her cat." xD
But it looks like Prim indeed loves her vey much - risking her own live for her (which was stupid!).
It sucks to hear that Cinna's dead... :o At least he believed in the revolution and Katniss.
That acting session was quite LOL xD
"And that my friends is how a revolution dies."
Getting her out into the real action was definitely a bette idea (even though risky).
"And if you're killed?"
"Make sure you get it on camera."
"Let's not fire the red ones in here." xD
The hanging tree song is beautiful/powerful <3
The civilians of the resistance seemed quite scared when the attack started. Even a dangerous panic outbreak at the stairwell. I though there would be no civilians but apparently they're not all trained fighters. At least they had those 8 extra minutes thanks to Peeta.
Prim being trained to become a doctor is nice :)
It really fits her - she cares about people.
Snow is really messing with them and especially Katniss... :o The roses, torturing Peeta, letting the extraction team escape, and highjacking Peeta to try to kill Katniss.
The final movie should certainly be interesting.
This movie was such a mixed bag. On one hand, this plot is far more interesting than the previous film, yet there are a lot of things here that don't make sense. Without getting into spoilers, questionable things happen that the main character surprisingly doesn't even bat an eye at, and the decisions from the Capitol are baffling, at best. However, if there is a particular plan at play here, this may change my opinion of this film in particular, and I may keep it at 7/10. Otherwise, I will likely come back and rate this 6/10.
I just love this movie. Such a great execution of the story, brilliant acting by the cast and especially Jennifer Lawrence. The additions to the cast, like Julianna Moore and Natalie Dormer bring a lot to the movie and even though this is only the prologue to the big finale it never gets boring for one second.
I don't quite remember what happened in this movie, it's blended a bit with the other ones
Wow. What a dud (word count)
That was a lot better than I remembered. Actually a fun watch.
Remember Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1? Where nothing really exciting happens in that movie, and the movie has a slow paste run time and it tries to save the all the exciting and awesome parts in part 2, and now we got Mockingjay and I can happily say that Mockingjay is a little better than something like Deathly Hallows Part 1, but it does lack of the two parter thing and this movie is not near from perfect.
Part 1 continues the story has Katniss Everdeen along with Peeta Mellark, and a handful of other survivors, have successfully escaped the Quarterquell thanks to helps from Haymitch Abernathy and former gamemaster Plutarch Heavensbee. But escaping is just the start, as Katniss finds herself having to embrace the symbol she has become to the people of Panem - a symbol of rebellion against President Snow and the autocratic Capitol.
I was really looking forward to Mockingjay, because I thought the squeal (Catching Fire) was a big improvement and just overall a better movie than the first one. The trailer to Mockingjay won me over by it's excellent tone and it's brilliant shots, and I was actually counting down the days for the movie release, but now after seeing the film I got to say.... I'm a bit disappointed.
Let's start off with the good: Jennifer Lawrence was just flawless in this movie and now every time I see her in interviews or new movies I straight away like her as a person and as a actress. Rest of the cast did good as well. The movie had that Apocalypse settings to it and it suited the tone of the film and I'm just happy they got that right.
Now for the things that did not work at all and came off messy: The fact that this is a two parter really spoils the film for me, because without giving away anything, but basically this movie is just a set up for the next film and sometimes movies can pull that off, but when the the second part comes out not a lot really of people won't be talking about part 1 anymore, just like Harry Potter and I know I keep bring up Potter a lot but it's really hard not to.
The films pasting is like watching a snail starting walking to point A to point B, that's the movies paste right there. The movie really wants me to care about the character's and the character's may not be boring, but there not really that interesting to me.
Overall rating: 'Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1' feels less then a stand alone film, but more of a cash grab and I hate saying that because I really wanted to like this and I trying my damn best, but I'm sorry for letting you all down but this movie was a disappointing to me and saying that sucks.
Literally half of a movie in every sense of the word. Mockingjay has all the piece-placing, anticipation-building and scene-setting with none of the payoff, and that can make it feel terribly flat. President Snow is a ruthless dictator. The capital lives in the lap of luxury. The lower districts are ready to revolt. These plot points were already established in the first two films, and here they're only further reinforced and expanded.
When its second half arrives, this will probably feel much stronger than it does today, which is an interesting proposition because despite its inherent flaws it's very well-made. The landscape (both physical and political) is startlingly realized, easily the most grimly authentic of the series, and the majority of its star-studded cast carries their roles above and beyond what I'd encountered in print. The exception, strangely, is Philip Seymour Hoffman, who quite clearly doesn't seem himself. It's a very unusual performance, one that instantly reminded me of Orson Welles's presence in the 80s animation Transformers: The Movie. Of course, Welles also passed just before completing his work, and with the benefit of hindsight it's clear that both already had one foot out the door.
The film works, often quite well, but it's just not a whole product and that's problematic. Still, it's appropriately weighty, dark and explosive, with more depth than I thought it was capable of: an ultra-rare case of the screen outdoing the book.
boring as helllllllll..............such a crappy series
The Hunger Games is a dystopian young adult book series that became a blockbuster film series. Usually, I don't bother much with popular movies unless they fall into the sci-fi/fantasy or superhero genres, but, I made an exception for these movies some years ago, and I'm glad I did. It's easy to see why this series has captivated moviegoers worldwide, especially given the state of our country and our planet. Modern screen legend Jennifer Lawrence excelled as heroine Katniss, and everyone else did very well; Haymitch has always reminded me of former dc Talk member Kevin Max, for some reason. There wasn't any profanity, and one brief kiss was about as sexual as it got, both of which are shocking for a "PG-13" film. I honestly wish I had the sequel on hand; I can't wait to see what happens next. By now, I would think all fans of the franchise have already seen this; if you're unfamiliar with these movies, you definitely should check them out...but, they're not for the faint of heart!
Content Concerns:
Sex: One brief kiss; a girl invites a guy to snuggle with her in bed, only for her to wake up and find that it's a dream. 4/5
Nudity: None. 5/5
Language: Nothing worse than "shut up" or "horse manure," which is shocking for a "PG-13". 4/5
Violence: People are shot dead; scenes of massively destructed towns; a bombing or two; a guy attacks a young woman, and she ends up with a neck injury as a result. 2/5
Drugs: Alcohol and prohibition are mentioned; nobody actually drinks, though. 4/5
Frightening/Intense Scenes: The whole tone of the movie is dark; the scenes showing destructed towns; the aforementioned attack; frankly, there's little here that isn't intense. 1/5
Score: 4.5/5
I wish more people would see this Book/Film Series as the masterpiece that it is
i guess they made it in this movie kinda calm to that in Part 2 things will be exploded and that ending when Katniss meet Peeta wow! what a twist
Hello guys, i can't find subtitles in this app. What do i do? Can you help me please?
buy it: worth watching, interesting story, visually well made.
I loved it!!!!! sooo emotional part, even tears was in my eyes. well performed, you have to watch it. .
This part of the franchise held my attention more than the first two. The acting contained very believable performances but it was the condition of Peeta which was most hard hitting.
I've not read the books; I hope Part 2 brings a happy ending where Part 1 was so very sad
It's good and entertaining, but not awesome.
Nice movie ! Can't wait to see the part 2 !
Found myself bored throughout, but the Lawrence put on a good show. Her acting is improving for every film she's in, and it wasn't bad in the first place. Books are still waaaay better...
wow. this made me forgot about the book, and even made me feel for it more than the book ever did. I felt like joining the rebellion, I felt proud, I felt things. it was not made for fans, it was not made for the crowd.
I first watched while fast forwarding the non-dialogues, but gradually found myself not able to bear any moments to skip. I was pleasantly surprised that what I expected to be as bad as the reviews on IMDb stated it to be, turned out to be a thrilling case study of a fascist war filled with propaganda and political divisions, with war breeding both in and outside.
the only excitement I got from watching the first 2 movies came from the desire to see what I already knew, happen on the screen. it was to be expected, given the necessary setting up of the trilogy that the last act needed to be built upon. it made me lose interest in the franchise long ago.
but this Mockingjay Part 1, is truly something special. it gave me faith in book adaptations. I could even say that I adored it. this was the book-to-film visualization I never knew I needed. everything about the rebellion moved something in me. I feel so much from the storytelling, the detailed but not gratuitously flashy CGI needed to create District 13 as a secure confinement, the slowburn of the events (which was what most people hated), the well-paced action to dialogue to silence ratio, the realistic handling of a war against the Capitol, and the little pockets of subtle humour injected occassionally which I really appreciated. I guess why it really worked is because everything made sense, no one did something that broke the immersion, it was fluid and believable and emotional and quiet.
even after being pleased throughout the progress of it, I still expected the end to be bittersweet but underwhelming, like only getting just the other half of an oreo cookie. but the credits came on, and I never felt that pinch, the anti-climatic dread that I never got what I needed. I would say that it was the perfect decision to split 2 parts, out of the good for the story and not just for the cash. the 2nd part of the book was a long dreadful battle for god's sake. at least the hopeful Mockingjay lives on in this first part, it was perfect and I'm just thankful to be able to feel for it.
When i can see the film? The film it's ok for you?
This movie is fine.
The first Hunger Games movie was an interesting satire, condemning violence of children whilst showing the brutal murder of children. I liked that movie.
The second was the first movie again but everyone cried more and it never ended, it just stopped.
This movie never starts and it doesn't end either, and there is loads more crying. I spent a lot of it trying to remember which characters did what as nothing is introduced again, and my memory of the previous movies isn't perfect. It took way too long for me to figure out Gale and Fennick were different people.
Whilst the other two movies are about manipulation of events to fit narratives and the sinister people controlling that, this one is about constructing movies to tell intended emotional moments. The movie critically deconstructs itself before you. It is interesting, but not that entertaining.
Katniss seems to have lost all agency and is just doing what everyone around is saying to do. Her relationship with Peeta is now legit, even though they previously established it as fake, just because everyone tells her this. This change is odd. The problem is it is the emotional drive of the movie. Katniss spends all her time worrying about him, and we spend all our time with Katniss. Odd.
It's whatever. I didn't hate this movie. I'm sure it will make a great act 2 when the next one drops, but it isn't overly thrilling right now. I look forward to watching all of them in a row in 5 years.
Definitely missing part II
Really love it. The tone of the film was great, a little slow, but sets perfectly the path for the second movie. The acting was fantástic, and the hanging tree song, and the scene with Peeta , and my poor Katniss. Vamos que me ha encantado , con frases sacadas directamente de libro incluso, y no sé como voy a esperar un año para ver como resuelven el fin de la historia.
The worst movie of the series. Nothing really happened... They better make things right with the final movie.
It never caught on fire.
Good acting, nice effects, but man is this movie dragging. One movie (or 90 min for each part if you have to take our money Lionsgate) would have been better.
much in people in the theater. Better than expected, do not have much stretch
Decision of dividing the story into two parts is defended by building climate of the split Panem and the emerging resistance, not only to show the senseless carnage.
More action and political strategies in this one, but it was sooo good! Julianne Moore did an excellent job there, and of course the recurring cast. Effie is still my favorite character, she's true to herself even in the most unsuitable places XD
I enjoyed it, I think this was better tan the other ones. I haven't read the books but I think that as a movie it Works fine, thinking of course of it as a part one, everything was settled for the final chapter and I expect Mockingjay Part 2 is gonna be the best of all.
"Meh" to "Nah". Maybe they should't have divided the book.
if you read the books and you were wondering whether this movie will disappoint you, you're wrong. I left the theater absolutely content. Everything was perfect and so was the acting. It keeps getting better movie after movie.
the movie was amazing and true to the books (I'm so happy they included Effie), I loved Katniss singing and how they set everything up for the big finale! can't wait for Part 2!!! #JoinTheMockingjay #JoinTheFight
It was a nice adaptation of the book, just leaving and adding some little things. So glad to live in Brazil because it was the first country to premiere. And it was more than i was expecting. Can't wait for the finale!
