One long Google commercial. Plot is ridiculous. Acting is sub-par. Everything is super predictable. I don't think I even laughed once.
There are a lot of undeserved negative reviews here. It's as if mainstream audiences are unfamiliar with mediocrity as a concept.
The Internship is not bad, it has just been done several times. Moreover, the plot is basically a copy/paste from movies that ran it into the ground during the '80s. Without digging in too much, the ones that come to mind are Back to School, Revenge of the Nerds, Necessary Roughness, and Caddyshack. The formula goes as follows: you have your older fish-out-of-water, he/they are put into a situation that pairs them with a team of misfits. They both learn from the other. Everyone comes away as better people. Just your classic high school/college outcast comedy; complete with obligatory romance, and very out-of-place antagonist - like, why even bother with that?
The movie does get better as it goes along, but it is still very forgettable.
Again, not a bad movie. Trouble is, I have seen this many times already, and altogether better. I think this would have benefitted from a hard R, and a raunchy American Pie slant. The movie wants to play it safe, and that makes it an endearing journey, but barely worth the ride.
Great movie, its better than I expect
One of my favorite movies.
To classify this as a comedy is pushing it - a 2 hour advert for Google is more like it. There is not a single redeeming moment within this film, devoid of any humour with a central message that Google is going to save the world and happily ever after is full time employment at Google. Really ?? Frankly, it is a surprise there wasn't a list of job adverts at the end for people to apply for. If the film was even remotely funny, it may have been passable entertainment, but every line was obvious and still fell flat, every cliche that could be trotted out was. The half star is an acknowledgment that a film of some description was made. Probably the worst film of last year and a strong candidate to join most people's worst films of all time. The one positive note is that at the end of this review, I have pretty much forgotten most of it.
It's basically a surprisingly long and boring ad for google. Oh and it's NOT FUNNY.
Hardly any genuinely funny parts and the ending was completely predictable. Save your time.
Google doesn't need an ad, we all know what google is. Dude, seriously.
I like this movie, the drama in the situations and relationships is just awesome (imo), entertaining and emotional :-) Now if you don't like that, it's fine. You don't have to like it, and if you find it "long and boring" then why the fuck watch this "long and boring ad for google". You're only waisting your own time.
Also. Dylan O'Brien is so fucking sexy as a geek. I just can't. fangirls WARNING TO FANGIRLS: prepare your ovaries, they might explode ;)
I managed to get through this 2 hour(!) long movie, but what a waste it was. I liked Google before, now I just want to hate them. The few chuckles there was you've already seen in the trailer.
Nothing about this movie should work, and without Vaughn and Wilson it wouldn't. It is a credit to their chemistry as a double act, that they are able to elevate something which should be mediocre and make it thoroughly entertaining.
Lots of comments seem harsh and anti Google here. It's honestly not a great movie, but definitely not a bad one either.
Decent entertainment using a plot seen multiple times. Don't expect more and less than that.
"Quick interjection: When you keep saying 'on the line,' you do mean online?"
If you came here looking for Wedding Crashers 2, you are in the wrong place. This is a safe buddy comedy with a good cast and a predictable storyline. It's not bad, just a middle of the road comedy.
I will rate this movie SAY WHAT/10
This was just okay. Not the worst but nothing to get excited about. I expected more or better from it based on the way it was first described to me, and from the actual start of it. It was far too long and dragged out for what it was. This should not have been a 2 hour movie. Some of the kind of humor used felt too forced. It felt like they were going for something that they didn't quite manage. It felt "overdone." It just didn't hit the mark for me. There weren't nearly enough funny moments to ever bother watching it again, not even casually or distractedly.
Note: If you'd prefer to skip long and drawn out, gratuitous strip club nude scenes that don't actually add anything of value or understanding to the story, then watch the PG-13 version and not the unrated one.
Full of laughs, The Internship is a smart and heartfelt comedy. The story follows two out of work salesmen who land internships with Google, but to succeed they'll have to find a way to re-invent themselves for the digital age. Featuring a great cast, the film stars Vince Vaughn, Owen Wilson, and Rose Byrne. Vaughn and Wilson deliver their usual dry, satiric comedy, and it works pretty well. However, the shameless Google propaganda becomes rather distracting. Despite the formulaic plot structure and the stereotypical characters, The Internship is a lot of fun and has a positive message.
No suelen gustarme las comedias, pero esta, para mi sorpresa, me ha parecido entretenida y con las dosis justas de humor absurdo. Está bien para pasar un buen rato.
Best part of this movie was the credits.
I loved this movie, and it has been one of my favourite go to movies for a happy chappy feel good time with lots of laughs. Google had little say in this, hence it wasn't at all a Google ad, although I don't think they minded the extra publicity at all.
How great is Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn together? They make every movie they double up in together just work. The chemistry between them is clear and comes through with shining wishy-washy happy feelings. This is backed up fantastically with the support actors that they end up getting put in a team with throughout the movie. Everyone adds their own strengths to the team after overcoming everyday, real life problems and dilemmas.
I found that there was just enough backstory to the majority of supporting roles, without going over the top and pulling away from the fundamental story. The music was a quiet standout for me.
To sum up, the composer does an excellent job of matching the right music for the emotions throughout, polishing off the already attention sucking and engaging movie. This was one fun roller coaster of a movie, and I can't wait to watch it again.
Un film où tout est prévisible mais Vince Vaughn et Owen Wilson arrivent à nous faire sourire malgré tout.
This is nothing more than a two minute ad stretched out to a full feature. Its so painfully obvious that it is nothing more than a ad campaign and not a serious movie.
Film was good but big google PR film
After all the jokes about it being great for 2005 and my severe dislike for Google, I wasn't expecting much from what has been called on numerous occasions "a two hour commercial for Google".
However, I enjoyed it. It's not the best movie ever, but there are far worse films, even from this year. It had a plot, Wilson/Vaughn were compatible as ever, and if you hate Google as much as me, you can easily look on Google with a disdainful attitude for most of the movie, which alone provides some sort of entertainment.
Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson are always perfect together!
Bagger 1e klas!
might be a 2 hour ad for Google, but funny nonetheless.
Really bad movie... full of stereotypes and a huge commercial to a google culture that actually doesn't exist anymore.
It was entertaining, mainly because of the Vince and Owen duo.
Terribly predictable. Filled with outdated and overused life-lessons you've seen a thousand times before. The only reason you'd give this above 5-rating would be if this was the first movie you EVER watched. Only thing that keeps this afloat is the chemistry between vaughn and wilson.
Some laughs & some not, hmm
Amazing, i love it!
Oh Google, what a bad ad!
so,apparently google is not search engine / apps site! It´s a life lesson filled with moralists with the meaning if life! I must be doing something wrong when i check my Gmail because all i see is emails!... I must check the spam folder for life lessons.
meh, forgettable movie with a couple of good moments. glorified 119 minutes commercial.
Funny, and really well executed.
Uma grande propaganda do Google, com uma pitada de humor. Um filme leve, daqueles pra aliviar a tensão do dia, mas que você esquece facilmente no dia seguinte.
It has some funny moments but i rarely really laugh at American humor movies.
I just love Dylan O'brien so much.
Can't wait to watch this one "On The Line".
Gotta love the Onion: http://www.theonion.com/video/the-internship-poised-to-be-biggest-comedy-of-2005,32682/
Humor from a decade again, bundled inside an unfunny (and surprisingly sexist) ad for Google.

There was nothing funny about this movie. It was 2 hours long and imo that was 2 hours too long. Usually Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson have chemistry and a rapport that is hilarious and witty, but this was just so droll and tiresome. I second the comments of others, this was just one long boring, unnecessary PSA for google.
