I'll watch just about anything Jason Mantzoukas is in, so this film gets points for that, and Mantzoukas was great in this, again doing a slight riff on his own personality. Overall this film was...fine. You have to get over some rather rushed relationship building, unlikely coincidence, and a few conveniences for things to work, but if you can get past that, you'll be treated to a decent road movie with a few great monologue moments from Mantzoukas. Tony Revolori has a unique vibe to him, but even so he doesn't ever quite draw you in towards him in a way you really care about him. Maybe it's the way his character was written, but I was sort of "meh" in regards to his growth over the course of the film. You could do worse, but this could also have been better with some tightening up and maybe a bit more of an end goal beyond "here's a chunk of life where these two crossed paths".

The road might be long and dumb but the film itself is short and pretty darn smart. An enjoyable road trip of a movie with a good cast along for the ride.

If the fantastic An Education were a middling indie movie it would be this film. The film on the whole is a decent watch and there was enough story to hold my attention. Not a ringing endorsement – it was just ok.
