The original film is one of my favourite films, it explored philosophy and kept my attention throughout despite being one of the most simple films I've ever seen. A group of people talking around a fire. I was so excited to see what they could do with a sequel.
And it started off well, I was invested during the build up to where someone would inevitably discover his secret. Touching on him finally starting to age was a really interesting idea! But we found out nothing more about it. But the whole ending was just a let down that gave us nothing.
I was invested in the students to start with as they worked their way to discovering who he really was, they figured it out in a really great way. But they lost me when they started wanting to create a religion out of him. The way Tara "leaked" their secret to John felt pretty forced. Yeah it's believable that she'd try and make a move on a cute fatherly lecturer, even after finding out his secret. But the timing of it was too convenient and just screamed of plot progression.
The climax of the film. I really enjoyed the way John spoke with Philip, it was very well done, as was Philip believing he was being manipulated. But to go from that to the fanatical reaction he had was disappointing.
The worst part though, is that we don't have an ending, just the hope of a future instalment that may never come. It felt like the pilot to a television series, rather than the sequel to a film.
The original 2007 was genius.
This is pure trash :)
Honestly, this movie is far from the first one. Not a total waste of time, but as a sequel, it's just not on par with the quality of the original.
You have nonetheless to salute the effort they made, as independent movie makers to choose to distribute it to the file sharing community in addition to the regular channels, and just ask for a donation if you enjoyed the movie. Well I didn't enjoy it, but i still gave the equivalent of a movie ticket price, if only to encourage this practice. I never minded paying the artists for their work, it's the middle man, the distribution companies who benefits from their work and spoil them of most of the profits, I have a problem with.
In this case though, I truly hope they get tons of money and enjoy an early retirement, not plaguing us with spin-offs and more sequels as the end seems to hint at.
I have to say I was disappointed
please Everyone who has watched the movie donate some money,I did.
To stop him from making more movies/Tv about the man from earth.
The Original was one of the simple and Thought Provoking Sci-Fi I have ever seen
This movie was Complete BS

WTF!! Please find new plots to explore rather than stick to one success story and stretch it too thin.
Absolutely shocking sequel. It almost seems like they tried to ruin the franchise as much as possible. Despite that, this movie is so "out there" that it has entertainment value. And the post-credit ending actually added some extra points for me. Not because the ending was good (it's not, it truly ruins the first movie) but because now I really want to see a third movie!
Fantastic idea that got strapped clean from its brilliance to create a generic and artificially dramatic sequel that does nothing more than detracts from the impact of the original.
Hey, Netflix, give Mr. Schenkman a couple of millions to turn this thing into series!
They could have gone so many ways and all of them would have been better than what we got. They should have gone full on horror or something...
Rated a Connor 0, normal 5
Watched two in a row, found out the first film is not as good as the hype and the second one is not as bad as the hype (except the final part)

Having enjoyed the first film, which I rewatched recently, this sequel couldn't be more unwelcome.
Unfortunately sequels tend to be bad apples and this one fell so very far away from the tree.
Also, one of the ending dialogs introduces the idea of a potential spin-offs with serial-killer "Man from Earth" types.
Please, just don't, this one was painful enough... don't stain the original's reputation any further.
