This movie was totally off my radar, so it took me by surprise. I'm of two minds on this: on the one hand, it's simplistic, dull, and represents everything I hate about Hollywood-made social message movies. And of course in retrospect it's hard to ignore that things were much worse than the movie realizes.
But on the other, it's a remarkable time capsule to see a movie like this made, in America no less, at this specific point in time. Certainly worth watching for historical value alone.
