I adored this movie from start to finish, especially because I watched it with no prior knowledge of what it was about. This is my preferred way of watching movies–I always avoid movie trailers and try to know as little as possible when I sit down to watch something. This strategy pays off for a movie like this, because what begins as a seemingly straight-forward story about a couple struggling to rejuvenate their troubled relationship begins to slowly veer away into some truly uncharted territory. I don’t want to divulge too much, but I’ll say that it reminded me of Groundhog Day in the way that it incorporates a strain of magic into the proceedings, which completely turns one’s expectations upside down. Duplass and Moss carry the show here (apart from a small cameo from Ted Danson), and they do a magnificent job. In particular, Moss’s performance reminded me of the brilliant work done by Naomi Watts, playing Diane Selwyn/Betty Elms in Mulholland Drive. She’s that good. Watch this movie, but don’t read anything about it!!
A big part of my movie enjoyment is seeing how a movie is unfolds and the different directions a movie can go. I love it when I can see the director taking the movie in ten different directions. I also love it when a movie stays with me for days because of all of the questions that it raises.
This film is about a couple that is trying to save their failing marriage. Their counselor (freaking Ted Danson!) recommends that they try a weekend retreat to a place where many of his other patients had found success. Sure enough, they get there and there is a record of all of the success stories. And then.... I can't say. What I can say is that it is like no other film I've ever seen and it was amazing. Elisabeth Moss was unbelievable in her "role" and the Duplass Brothers delivered another fantastic film. This is one of my all-time favorite movies.
Some of the complaints about the movie were about the sci-fi angle and the resolution. While this has a touch of sci-fi the sci-fi is really just a tool used to get us to ponder our own relationships. The movie is about questions and thus shouldn't be tidied up at the end.

Such a weird movie, a welcome fresh breath of air. A bit of comedy, a bit of drama and a lot of mystery. Good plot, great actors. Mark Duplass once again, great! And while the ending wasn't that surprising, it didn't spoil any of the magic in this movie.
Different movie, and I appreciate what they were trying to do and say; if you could find the one you love but in a perfect version would you ignore your gut to run for the hills or stay there…But didn’t love it.
I'm thoroughly creeped out. Cool movie concept.
Best thing is the concept of this movie , really intriguing and new
Absolutely fantastic
The One I Love had a cool concept it could have done more with. Rather than exploring the sci-fi angle, the movie concentrated the bulk of its runtime on deception and distrust in relationships... which, I guess I should have expected based on the movie's title, but still. It's not till the third act that anything like that happens, but it was nevertheless pretty good.
wow what did i just watch? i guess it falls in the category, best to go in blind. absolute great movie with thrill, fun, love and weirdness. remembered me kind of movies like vivarium or palm springs. did not expect that. def a mustwatch for fans of something different.
I don’t want to say too much about it because I think it’s best to see without any spoilers but I really enjoyed the concept this film presented.
i dont even know. weird as f.
The indie drama The One I Love is a bizarre but oddly fascinating film. When a troubled couple goes on a retreat to work on their marriage they discover a mysterious guest house in which strange things happen. Elisabeth Moss and Mark Duplass lead the cast and give fairly good performances. And, the storytelling does an impressive job at building up the suspense and intrigue. Yet, it takes a while for the plot to get going, and the mystery is left rather open-ended. However, despite its weaknesses, The One I Love ends up being remarkably daring and thought-provoking.
A forehead-wrinkling bit of relationship fantasy that'll stick in your teeth for days. I found a lot of thematic similarities between this one and Being John Malkovich. Though it's not nearly so dark and grim about it, The One I Love delights in asking similarly deep, puzzling questions about the root of an unhappy relationship and the sense of futility that's so often associated with mending something so broken.
Of course, like Malkovich, it's also based around a weird, jolting plot device that skirts explanation for its own benefit. The real allure of that vehicle, of course, isn't with the solemn inspection of its construct, it's with the games it plays with the main players. Usually I'm the first to complain when such an elephant is left ignored in the back of the room, but in this case (if you'll excuse the string of metaphors) I think it would be a case of missing the forest for the trees.
It's not perfect - the false-finish is telegraphed and the second act sags at times - but it deserves praise for trying something so fresh, and for evenly exploring both sides of the central relationship. Men will see the movie one way, women will see it another, but both will leave with a better understanding of the other's perspective.
Fair movie i expected to be more interesting and better in some points but overall it was a nice try with good twist..6.3/10 worths your time because it's not even one and a half hour long.
Supersick. Brilliant. Weird. Love it!
An interesting premise, or was it? To my mind, it had the beginning of a unique premise but they didn't work out the how the the premise worked. It didn't have an internal logic. SciFi films don't have to be real but they do have to build (and then be faithful to) an internal structure, which I don't think this did. And, the final twist was entirely predictable. The beginning was boring and poorly written. I thought there was little chemistry between Sophie and Ethan. But the middle was interesting. Not resolving the premise was the problem for me. So, poor beginning, predictable ending without resolving the underlying mystery - I give this film a 6 (fair) out of 10. [SciFi Mystery]
A movie that relies on a good script. It was interesting.

This was a surprisingly good movie. This is one of those movies where the mystery most reviews and comments mention is the main reason to watch this film. Try not to ruin the surprise and watch this movie. I would highly recommend this to anyone who likes romantic movies, romantic-comedy movies, and people who don't like either of those genres.
