Let me remind you that Dumas was paid for the number of characters. The novel was not just a fascinating reading about the sword and honor, published in the newspaper. The author added details about politics and customs, clothes, life. Having created, what is already there, a masterpiece. Where everything is described in detail, the motivations of heroes, the intrigues of enemies, nobility and fencing fights, friendship and love. The film is like an adaptation for children, the new plot is absurdly remade and gallops, from a spectacular fight with the guards to an attempted coup and a sniper (!) With a musket, only a couple of dozen phrases are said. Why so? Perhaps I should praise the costumes and interiors. Not enough for an interesting spectacle.

Like a fun road trip, it's epic and long and moves along at such a good pace that you truly enjoy the ride.

The Three Musketeers: D'Artagnan won't set any records for originality but everything else -- the cast, the directing, the scale -- work to make this grandiose effort prime entertainment.

The only good thing about this adoptation is that they use natural languages, French and English. The rest is not as good, why the king is looking as a pesant? Why the queen nor Constance aren't beautiful? Milaydy is btw.
