The Wolf House 2018

After some time, I finally finished this movie. Most unique stop-motion animation film I've ever seen!. First 40 mins was really unnerving and bizarre, the constant transtions and movements was really rough to process at first, made me really anxious so I had to stop for a bit. I never had any experience like this before, the visual itself was really breathtaking, haunting, and genuinely creepy combined with eerie voiceover and wonderful storytelling that keep drew me in. Need to watch at least twice. This type of movie maybe isn't for casual viewers, you don't get what you usually expect from horror movies, but worth a try.

Admire the amount of time this animation took and the creepy atmospheric vibes it creates. However, since my knowledge of the story they're talking about is limited, I can't say I understood a ton of what happened.

An artistic masterpiece that’s a little too inside baseball with the plot. It’s really hard to follow without proper understanding of the history between Chile and Germany, however I did respond emotionally when I was watching it. After doing some research a lot of its ideas fell into place, and that made me like the film a lot more. I respect it as a beautifully crafted, singular experience, but also one that I probably don’t get as much out of as others because it is so culturally specific.

7.5/10

3 Thoughts After Watching ‘The Wolf House’:

  1. I can appreciate the artistic creativity here, and the wildly-imaginative transitions, but what sets this film aside also sets it up for failure when it comes to understanding story. It’s very difficult to digest.

  2. The creepy history behind this movie makes it more interesting than the film itself.

  3. Yea, the visuals were eerie. Yes, the score/sounds were unsettling. But I needed more. Not a satisfying watch.
