What to expect from the film adaptation of a videogame inspired by action-adventure B-movies? Right, a mediocre action-adventure B-movie. I played all "Uncharted" videogames and loved each of them, but it's undeniable that they work because they are above anything else interactive experiences.
Still, I thought it was a decent action flick that can keep you entertained throughout. The impossibly over-the-top action scenes recreate the video game atmosphere well, even though we are far from the sensory explosion of guilty pleasures like Fast & Furious. The real problem is the humor - most of the jokes and gags fell flat or were poorly timed.
The characters are indeed too young to be believable as Nate and Sully, but as we will probably get a dozen sequels, they will eventually get to the right age.
Like an analog board game, even if the box doesn't contain any surprises, doesn't transport you anywhere and remains two dimensional, it's still an entertaining couple of hours.
Faithful in spirit to the games - and let's not mince our words here, the games are phenomenal.
The spirit is there - the wise cracks, the action, the physical comedy.
The plot is fine. A little 2-dimensional and an extra 10 or 15 minutes might have added something there but who knows.
The problem I had was casting. I can forgive Tom Holland as he's a very likeable guy and he has an excellent physicality that makes him half action hero and half silent movie star.
The problem was the casting of Sully - a single delivery Mark Wahlberg who has every opportunity to add some verve and never does; and the casting of Chloe - who in the games is a sultry goddess of a woman. Sonia Ali seems too young, too tomboy-ish.
The teasers for a sequel are fine. PlayStation Productions could have a raft of films and TV that would be like Marvel-lite... Not that the world needs dozens more characters in action-heavy situations...
It was fine. Nothing terrible and there were moments were it felt like a proper swash-buckler... Just a shame on the casting.
Odd thought - I kept thinking of that Matthew McConaughey film where he plays the treasure hunter - was it Saharanor Fool's Gold? - and wondering which came first, Drake or that?

Look, I'm very much in favor of giving directors the creative freedom to put their own spin on whatever they're adapting.
In fact, I think it's quite shallow and close-minded to judge an adaptation against its source material, pretending as if that's meant to be some holy grail of perfection.
That being said: the whole appeal of the Uncharted games in the first place is that they feel like a mix of Indiana Jones and Mission Impossible, with this sassy, horny, shit-talking protagonist at the center of it.
This movie captures neither of those aspects, and replaces them with basic movie tropes.
It doesn't feel like the aforementioned franchises. Instead, it looks and feels like your generic, throwaway action movie that usually stars The Rock (e.g.Rampage, Red Notice, Skyscraper).
Tom Holland plays Spider-man with attitude. He's not playing (a younger version of) Nathan Drake.
Mark Wahlberg plays Mark Wahlberg.
Like, why was this project treated like a tax write-off?
It has everything a Hollywood executive could want: the source material is cinematic, action packed, fun, and best of all: it has a built in audience.
This could've easily been the next big summer franchise if this was given a proper treatment. It should be much easier to get this right than other videogame based adaptations.
So why is Avi Arad producing this? Why is Ruben Fleischer directing this? Why is this script burning through four games of material? Why is the dialogue so clunky and unfunny? Why is the casting so lame? Why does it look like plastic, when the cinematographer of this thing shot Last Night in Soho and Oldboy?

I'm one of those guys that loves the Uncharted games, and I was really excited when I heard about this movie. Then the cast and director were announced and...well...let's say my expectations weren't all that high when I sat down in my seat.
I ended up being a little surprised. Sure...the CGI is not really up to par, and there were, of course, some things I wanted to see, but didn't, but all in all, I came out at the end pretty satisfied.
A live action version of any video game will have to be quite different from the source material, and that makes the job for the writers and directors rather hard. I think Ruben Fleischer, and his people, solved this pretty good. They made it a bit more adventurish, and less violent, but it worked.
These kinds of movies will never be high art, but Uncharted were nonetheless an OK couple of hours in the cinema.

I've been putting off writing this review because I don't really have much to say. It's been just over a month since I watched the film and I'm struggling to remember even the basic plot points, let alone any memorable scenes. It was decidedly forgettable. The entire process felt like a box checking exercise by someone trying to make a globe-trotting, treasure hunter film. We've got maps, we've got keys, we've got booby traps, we've got ancient ruins buried in modern cities, we've got predictable betrayals, etc. It's all been done before, and it's all been done better (shout out to the first National Treasure, which feels like the last film that really succeeded in this genre). The clue following and the mystery solving are token at best, with some combination of hand wave-y exposition and straight up stupid solutions (Tom Holland using both keys to "triangulate" the true treasure location on the map had me laughing in the theater with how absurd it is). The comedy mostly missed, with Tom Holland not able to successfully pull off the Spider-Man style quips with this character (mostly a writing issue I think). The action was unimpressive, with the climactic finale being so eye-rollingly unbelievable that it puts even the most ridiculous video game set pieces to shame. All in all, about what we've come to expect out of video game adaptations. That is to say, a disappointment.
Considering that Uncharted is one of my favourite video game series, this movie was painful to watch. Casting was awful, plot was generic and bland, and the few parts that bare any semblance to the video games are done horribly and feel as though they're crammed in just for the sake of making it seem similar to the games. The Nolan North cameo was the only part of the movie that I felt any sort of joy watching.
13 year old me would have killed for an Uncharted movie, and that makes this movie all the more sad and disappointing to me.
If you thought Da Vinci Code and National Treasure were completely implausible pants, don't watch this.
I came into this with no prior knowledge of the video game series and probably for the better. Many reviews I've read from fans of the game are not happy with this film, but I found it fun. Wahlberg and Holland have a great chemistry together and I always love Antonio Banderas, even with the limited screen time he got here. Sophia Ali and Tati Gabrielle, both new names to me, put in strong performances against the 'A' list headliners.
This film felt like a modern Indiana Jones with a touch of Lara Croft all mixed with a Dan Brown novel. At times, I definitely had the sense that I was in a video game world, where the main characters were unlocking puzzles, each one leading to the next, but never in a way that didn't belong.
Judging by the credits scene, there will be more uncharted films to come, I just hope we get to see more of the cat!
Falls flat several times for me then it completely flatlines when they killed off Antonio Banderas' character. At that point, I pretty much stopped caring about anything that happened.

This was okay - a typical action flick, but there were some poor choices made by everyone involved with this movie.
Namely, the ending. Now wtf was that?
Anyone interested in watching a movie about finding treasure wants them to find treasure and make it big time at the end - whoever decided it was a good idea to go with this nonsensical ending should be fired.
If they just waited until Jo left the island before going to the actual hiding place she never would have seen them and they never would have given the actual location away. They could have gotten away with all of their treasure instead of CRASHING THE BOATS AND SINKING IT INTO THE OCEAN. It made no sense at all - especially since both characters wanted to find the treasure and Sully had been looking for it for a long time.
I just can't wrap my head around the decision to take that route. This could have been a great show.
This was the first film I saw in theaters since like.. 2019 so the excitement of the big screen still made the movie enjoyable, but if I watched this at home I probably would have turned it off.

I do not know where i should start with this review. Before i start writing anything I should say that I enjoyed Uncharted and that is the most important thing on films.There are still a few BUT.
When the movie was announced I expected the masterpiece in all directions. I could not wait for realase in cinemas. Iam very disappointed for cast. The Actors were good but Mark Wahlberg did not fit me into the role of Sulli.. I must to say it.. He is very good actor for sure, in this movie he did good performace, but he did not fit me.. I expected little robbery from the game Franchize in all the directions like epic scene with epic theme from game during that and more a serious film with occasional jokes and great character chemistry, but we did not get any of that..
So much pity... realy... It is completely comedy film where you will have fun and so much laugh, but do not expect any extra quality story with epic scenes and excellent music in the background like in the game Franchize..
There were so many mistakes, but I enjoyed movie and it was not a waste of time... I could be very worse in all aspects..

That throat cut is one of the cringiest things I've ever seen in a movie. Fuck you and your censorship Sony. Glad I didn't waste money at the theatre on this one.
I … don’t even know where to start. Went into this movie not expecting much … and even then ended up being disappointed.
The script was just horrifically bad, paired with mediocre actors it resulted in poorly delivered lines. Just horrific.
Basically every single scene was predictable and there was no surprise. The CGI was poor—you can actually see the stunt double’s faces …
And what was up with the plot itself? Apart from characters having no depth or development, so many random things happened. There was just no logic to it at all. Even if it is based on a game, this all just did not make any sense.
Worst of all: casting someone from England as the Scotsman—what kind of accent was that supposed to be? Did the casting director read "oh, he’s from the north, that has to be Scotland". Complete and utter failure.
Only nice thing I can say about this movie was hearing Antonio Banderas speak lovely Spanish. At least there they decided to cast native speakers.

This is a fantastic adaptation of Uncharted. A truly cinematic experience that stays, for the most part, true to the games.
The cinematography of the opening intro, sequential flash-back and continuation of the film is particularly brilliant. This is a true homage to the structure of the games and captures it particularly well.
The action sequences are fun and sometimes ridiculous, but the soundtrack and Nolan North’s cameo really seal the deal for me.
There are, however, some divergencies from the games which will harm the reception received from fans.
Finding all that gold and megallens ship just to destroy the ship and loose the gold in twenty minutes must be the worst treasure hunters in the world. Don't they have some ethical code to not destroy the tresure findings :person_facepalming:♂
Someone wrote individual scenes that pay homage to the Uncharted series, and then attempted to weave a narrative that would make sense to showcase them all. As a dumb, shallow action ride, it's OK, but fans of the franchise should steer clear unless they're ok with shoddy, loose interpretations of the thing they love being paraded around on screen to soft effect. Purely passable popcorn cinema, just ok in every single way.
Wow, I am honestly surprised by how bad the plot and characters are in this film.
As a premise I would like to say that I have no knowledge of the videogame from which this movie is based, so I can't compare the two things. But I can say that this movie is enjoyable only if you are an easily impressionable kid.
So, Uncharted is a fast paced action/adventure, with a clear objective: to find the lost treasure of Magellano.
The main problem comes from how inconsistent the characters are: they don't really have a personality, therefore you never feel an emotional connection with any of them. Also the plot is kinda just sketched: protagonist solves puzzles because he has to, because he is the main character; things seem to happen because they have to happen, so of course the main character will trust the shady dude immediately, and of course he is a prodigious fighter and parkourer and thief, and has a vast knowledged of history and dead tongues (and I have no idea what kind of life this kid has had because the movie never tells us, he is just "good". Oh, he also descends from pirates, so maybe that's the reason, right?!).
The climax that comes from the "emotional" scene of the main character finally finding the treasure (in the most random cave ever, like how can it be that these huge ass ships where not found by any turist exploring the islands?) is cut short in like 5 seconds. Like, the main character doesn't even have time to actually think about his journey, or his brother, or that his brother knew where the treasure was... none of it matters, because they had to make space for action and chases...
Oh yeah, let me rant about the main chase of this film. I'm sure they thought they were making a big, spectacular thing when they came up with two helicopters holding two ancient pirate ships in the air and chasing each other around.
That choice alone turned the whole movie into garbage to me (and it wasn't great to begin with). It was so stupid that I couldn't believe they really did it. The main villain, which is trasporting the pirate ships full of gold to a safe platform over sea, sees that the second ship is being taken away by the "heroes", and so she orders his men to CHASE the ship. Which doesn't mean that some men took another helicopter and chased the ship, no no. It means they used the same helicopter which was transporting the priceless XVII century pirate ship full of gold to chase the other ship. Resulting in both ships getting destroyed and the treasure lost at sea.
Like, what the fuck was that??? Where's the logic? I'm not a fucking mindless puppet watching a screen for two hours and being happy just to see thing go boom and people fighting!I mean, why couldn't the villain just bring the fucking ship she still had to the safe place and chase the other one with the same helicopter later?! It's not like the heroes could have gone that far without fuel, or a base to which land the fucking huge ass ship, or anything! Oh, let me tell you the worst part: this choice came from the same villain which, upon finding the two ships, said to her thugs: "If you damage them I'll blow your heads", or something like that. So much for consistency!
Wait, you want another exemple of inconcistency? Throughout the film every fucking person the protagonist meet tells him that Sully is a bad guy, that he will betray anyone for money, NEVER TRUST HIM. Guess what? He never betrays anyone in the whole movie, and even saves the protagonist. But guess I'll have to believe them on their word!
In conclusion, if you want an adventure film with a lost treasure and lovable characters watch The Mummy (1999) instead, it's still a better choice after 23 years.

The 2018 low budget 15min live action fan film with Nathan Fillion & Stephen Lang, directed by Allan Ungar is way better than this crap!
To be fair, I did not watch this whole movie (wife and I got about 30 minutes in). I haven't played or heard of the Uncharted games, so I can't compare the movie to the games. What I can compare it to though, is other movies, most of which are surprisingly better. Between the horrible dialog between the 2 main characters and what seems to be a hugely rushed story (at least in the first 30 minutes) I had to stop watching. Because the story seemed so rushed, none of what was going on seemed at all believable. Think Oceans 11 in 20 minutes. The action and "comedy" were pretty bad too. I would not recommend wasting any time with this trash.
It's really like a 4 but I'm giving it a 6 - in a generous mood, I guess! I put this in a "rating it for what it is" category rather than rating it as a piece of art.
If you watch on autopilot or have it on in the background It's fine, but pay any attention and it becomes quickly apparent that this movie is extremely derivative, beyond nonsensical and very by-the-numbers.
That's not even getting into the way media like this romanticizes colonization and the idea that what was once stolen has somehow been "neutralized" by time to become a game for white settlers to fight over and feel entitled to. They played both sides of the fence on this with the ending.
Pretty straightforward and fun adventure movie, although does not come close to the greats in its genre. Overall it is pretty shallow and Mark and Tom's comedic talents are wasted on the poor jokes, but it still manages to be one of the best video game adaptations ever made. The bar for that is very low of course, but an achievement nonetheless.
Mark Wahlberg plays the same character in most films, and the same pretty bad (or the lack of any real) acting in all of them - but he isn't so offensive in that single character to make this a bad movie, just not a great one. This is kind of Indiana Jones meets National Treasure meets Mission Impossible, and if you like those three films then this is worth the watch.
It is trite, predictable and still not the worst way to spend 2 hours of your life.

This was a big waste. Remove the casting and the title and nobody would dare to watch this. Holland cannot save a bad script, and walberg didn't even try. I didn't know Ali and felt she was doing a good job, but her character was really one dimensional.

Not really sure how one should take this seriously. With adventurer that looks like he does not even have to shave yet, and the antagonist that looks like she has bird shit all over her head. This movie could be used as a definition for miscasting. Really bad.
The only positive was the character of Chloe, she reminded me of the game, and the actress really fit the role. If the whole movie was about her, without the uncharted name and with Antonio Banderas being the bad guy, it would make a great movie.
Also, the action scene, in the end, was quite good, even though it was more from a Tomb Raider game, not from Uncharted

A very typical generic action/adventure movie that had no uniqueness to it. The acting was a good as expected from the big names, and the plot seemed promising but nothing surprising and no plot twists. The whole plot about the hunt for this big treasure was promising until the treasure is found fairly quickly. However, a big positive of the film was the incredible "escape with the treasure" scene at the end which was a stunt devil paradise.
We have here a protagonist who seems to be able to learn parkour in five minutes, and improbable treasure hunt in Barcelona, secondary characters not characterized at all, and much more. But at the end, the main treasure (the ships), how could they find it before anyone else in an open cave in a tourist area?

A seeable movie but maybe not so deep. A bit unsuited comic relief sometimes to not take it too seriously. An utterly ordinary action-comedy, you could say.
However, considering the uncharted games, I had hoped for more adventure movies than it is. But I think I read somewhere the film wouldn't be connected to any games. But they have planned the film since the first game came out.
So maybe the expectations were more significant. I wish it had been a more adventurous movie. But on the other hand, the movie is made, so you don't need to have played the games. Maybe that's the idea of the whole movie. It reminds me quite a lot of a sequel to Indiana Jones but without the unique elements.
Good fun, exactly what I was expecting and don't forget to stay for the credits! I'd happily watch a sequel ;-) 7/10
okay so seeing Tom Holland recently in spiderman and loving mark walburg always I was pretty sure this was gonna be a outright film and no doubt I was right this movie was so much fun to see from start to finish I was flat out on the edge of my seat I highly recommend it to almost anyone

I haven't played the game. I watched this completely devoid of background or expectations. I luvd it. Funny, comedy didn't feel forced. (Compared to Shang-Chi comedy that seemed awkward -- in a bad way). Great action scenes. (Unpredictable... for me).
Ramin Djawadi film score was great. I think 7or 8/10 for me. Didn't feel I wasted my time and money.
Oh! Philippine references, some of which were taught in our history classes.
Rant: How I watch a movie (how everyone should?) is based on its own merit, especially when it's fictional... Because, well, everything there's invented anyway. Again, I enjoyed this better than Shang-Chi (which I think was overhyped, and in the end I kind of felt I should have just watched at home).
If this weren’t attached to the Uncharted name, it might be a great action treasure hunt movie. However, it lacks all the charm of the original franchise and its characters, leaving them a shallow husk for the viewers.
If you’re a non fan going into this just to see Tom Holland, youre gonna like it. If you’re an Uncharted fanatic, you might not be as pleased.

A big fan of the games and feel this was good with lots of nostalgia from the games but not brilliant, better than most films based on games tho like Silent Hill that I was very disappointed in also well done performance from Tom Holland and the action was fun.
Watched the film earlier this morning and had a blast, great to see Uncharted move from console to the big screen. I loved the dynamic between Nate and Sully, some real funny moments. Chloe was fun too although I wasn't totally sold on the accent.
That said the 2 hours flew by and I'd definitely watch the film again. Some lovely shots, good action and of course some evil nasty people just to add a little spice. There were a few choice action scenes but hey this is how games play. Highly recommended and an easy film to watch.
Make sure you stay for the mid credit scene, you won't be sorry you did!
It‘s a fun and entertaining movie but don‘t use your brain too much and basically I could predict almost everything that was happening. Still I enjoyed it and I definitely would watch the sequel.
As a big Uncharted fan, I cannot describe how horrible this movie was. Terrible script. Lots of mistakes like Sam giving Nathan the Sic Parvis Magna ring in the orphanage when Nathan finds the ring himself when he’s looking for Sir Francis Drake’s treasure— and that’s just one of the many things they messed up along with the fact Tom Holland doesn’t suit Nathan Drake’s character. It feels like watching Spiderman in some action filled scenes who is a little more witty than usual. There’s so many plot-holes. The casting isn’t very good. The writing feels lazy.
If you want the full Uncharted experience. Just please do yourself a favor and play the games and don’t waste almost 2 hours of your life watching this movie. It doesn’t do the games justice. Not even close.

Not as bad as I thought it’d be. Many things are different than in the game(s) but still entertaining. Tom (as much as I love him) wasn’t the best choice but still did a great job, its just that he looks way too young and different from nate, but then again the timeline in this movie is very confusing in comparison to the games.
Like from the ages of nate and sully it takes place in the third (or second, don’t remember 100%) game were they’re both young and met for the first time but in the movie its the story from the fourth game were they’re both older and known each other for many years, so they mixed everything together, which makes a decent adventure action movie, if you don’t compare it to the games.
But I guess they had to do it that way to make one movie for 4 games.
If you’re a big uncharted fan I recommend you watch it, but be prepared that its pretty different. (but ofc there a few things that are nice nods to the games)
If you’re not a fan of the games but love treasure hunting adventure movies I recommend it too, but its nothing groundbreaking.
As a fan of the games, this doesn’t feel enough like them. Tom Holland as Drake and Mark Wahlberg as his mentor Sully have brother like chemistry. So Wahlberg should have played Drake’s brother Sam, not Sully. Who usually has a mustache and doesn’t show off his muscles in tank tops.
Holland and Wahlberg are miscast, yet good despite feeling like they wandered off the set of another movie. While Tati Gabrielle (The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina) is never bad in anything. She for example feels like she wandered off the set of The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina.
While the games had a lot of shoot-outs. There’s not many shoot-outs in the movie either. Yet the movie did keep my attention there’s plenty of adventure and double crosses. There’s just not much suspense.
When Tom is included, it already feels frivolous
Bartender ninja Tom Holland is something I did not know I needed :joy:.
This movie was pretty much what I expected or rather hoped for. It was a fun adventure/action rollercoaster plain and simple. This is one of those, rare nowadays, movies that are meant to entertain plain and simple. Two hours of adventure, action and twists barely held together by a rudimentary story and no woke rubbish or bullshit preaching. The latter is probably what rendered it a 40% rotten “critics” score on woke tomatoes while the audience gave it a 90% fresh score. As almost always a rotten score on woke tomatoes is an indication that it is a movie worthwhile watching.
The story, as can be seen from the movie blurb, is a treasure hunt a la Indiana Jones. It starts off by introducing the main character, Nathan, in a few brief scenes where Nathan bungles up a heist being perpetrated by his brother after which they are involuntarily separated.
Quick forward to present time and the main story takes off with Nathan being persuaded by Sullivan to embark on a hunt for an immeasurable treasure. Not exactly the newest or freshest of stories but if it works don’t fix it.
Pretty much everyone in this movie is a self-centered scoundrel with little to no care for anyone except themselves. Thus the action and treasure hunting is regularly interrupted by twists and betrayals. No one will claim that this movie has an elaborate and intelligent story. It does not have to. It is just meant to hold the action together.
I quite liked the main actors. Sullivan did a good job of being the blasé, self-centered scoundrel, Nathan of being the somewhat naive wannabe treasure hunter and Braddock was quite cool, and sexy (hey, I’m a guy), as the baddie. Antonio Banderas was Antonio Banderas although I was saddened by his premature exit from the hunt.
Overall the action was nice although the scenes in, and out of, the airplane was the usual unrealistic Hollywood action. Although that was overshadowed with the ship carrying helicopter scenes towards the end which was taking unrealism to new levels. But I didn’t really care because it was fun silliness. The moment they started to carry those ships away I started to hope that the writer would go for the silly and obvious stunt involving black powder. Yes unrealistic but there is no denying the coolness factor.
As far as I am concerned this was two hours well spent. The ending scene clearly suggested that the producers hoped to make a sequel. I would definitely watch it but with all the people lamenting the fact that someone dared to make a movie simply for entertainment without a profound (and boring) story or bullshit preaching in it that might not happen. It did make about four times its budget at the box office though so maybe.
you can’t make the villain team a bunch of hotties and then expect me to root for two no-lipped white dudes EVEN if one of them is Tom Holland.

Was sceptical at first, but they did a fine job. Eventually. What a thrilling ride.
It was an okay Action movie, but it was barely Uncharted. Could’ve put a different name on it and you would never guess the source material.
I didn’t expect the games to be copied 1:1, but at least implementing the curse of the treasure would’ve been cool. But I guess flying ships crashing into each other are cooler than zombies?
Well this was disappointing.
I was expecting more from the director of 'Venom' and the writers of 'Transformers: The Last Knight' and 'Men in Black: International'.
The treasure hunt, catacombs, passageways, dangers, have been entertaining. The helicopter thing doesn't sound very believable. 1 post-credits scene
Entertaining, and pretty good, but not really special or worth a re-watch.

absolute worst casting i've seen in my entire life smh
For a film based on an action video game , I got more than I expected.
Actual character growth. Wow.
Fun movie and what I expected.
To be fair, I've never played Uncharted before so I was going in with no expectations. I was mainly looking for an easy movie to follow to change my mind. amAnd it did that. This movie is clearly not a masterpiece and the plot is predictable but it's a fun ride. It's entertaining.
A fine piece of just turn your brain off and enjoy what is being given, also known as: popcorn entertainment cinema. The type of adventure movie that we do not see these too often. A great ride from beginning to end. The end was over the top: definitely. But was it enjoyable: absolutely. Would recommend for a fun time.
The film is ok, typical 2 hour action film.
It just doesn’t feel like uncharted. They crammed elements from all 4 games into 1 film - rather than aiming for 1 film per game as I would’ve liked.
Also, I think Tom Holland is great, but not the right choice for Nathan Drake - he’s far too young.
Same with Mark Wahlberg for Sully.
Very good action. Unfortunately, too little of it.
At least I had fun watching it. I accept Tom Holland for everything by now. He can be the next Arielle for all I care.

Is it just me or one of jo's men looks like Joe the lie detector guy?
Why the hell doesn't somebody just kill Braddock early in the movie. There are several opportunities. Hell, it isn't even necessary to kill her. Victor could have just beat the crap out of her instead of farting around and pretending to put up a fight with an underskilled opponent. He just plays with her while she is trying her best to be effective. He shrugs her off repeatedly and instead of finishing the fight he just wanders off like she doesn't even exist and is of no consequence. It's obvious in every fight that she is no match for her opponents.
She's annoying and obviously out to kill anyone in her way. Kill her first, or at least put her in the hospital for the next month. The second option involves more suffering. I like that one better.
She's not a well written character and is a detriment to the story. She's not entertaining. She has no depth. She is stupid as all get out (who the hell would take several billion dollars and use it as a weapon when it could easily fall into the ocean and be lost... so absolutely insipid). The character has no on screen presence. She is just a waste of screen time. Literally every other character is better. Her minions have more depth and presence than she does.
Off her and improve the rest of the movie.
After seeing this. I wanna play the original game.
Terrific treasure hunt entertainment with exhilarating thrills, chills, super-stunts amidst stunning locales deservingly nurturing every aspect of mystery.
i just hate this movie because it’s just feel like ive seen it before it’s just so basic.
Without playing the game, I could see that the actors appeared to be miscast. Wahlberg and Holland make a good team, if only it was for another film. That being said, Sophia Ali and Banderas, appear more in character to what I imagine the games to be like. Overall, I’d say you wouldn’t be wasting your evening with this adventure, but it’s not off the charts.

I've been here from the beginning
with the franchise,
I own them all special editions and
I have bought them all multiple times for
every console release/re-release,
PS3,PS4pro,PS5.
and I play them all multiple times a year and know every word,scene and inch of this
Magnificent Awesome franchise.
In fact I'm actually playing them at the moment,
I'm up to the 4th installment so I would say I
have expert knowledge of this thrilling universe.
First Cons:
I'm not feeling Chloe
at all, she's Amazing frickin awesome in the game
Charming, charismatic
Cool AF and definitely command's and owns every scene she's in
(Chloe even gets her own solo
Uncharted game without
Nate she's that Frickin Awesome,
which is Phenomenal by the way).
The girl Cosplaying her in the movie is just plain unlikeable and I just wasn't feeling
any "Chloe Frazer" in her acting at all,
No not in the slightest.
We need a much better actress to slay the role.
Same for Jo, now she was good and made a decent baddie but she was no
"Nadine Ross" from
Uncharted 4 and
Lost Legacy.
She is a Uber badass
and I mean she can go,
You really don't want to mess with her at all
because she will definitely kick your ass into

Just another typical treasure hunt movie. A fine time pass for one time!
2 minutes in, and I see that Tom got some use for his spider skills.
Overall it was alright movie. Not the actors I was expecting to play the Drake and Sully. I really expected a greyhaired oldie to play Sully.
Made me want to replay the games.

Wow, I love this film. Good actors, interesting story and wonderful spots. OK, it’s not a movie which needs the use of your brain but it’s perfect entertainment with excitement and action. And last but not least humor.
It's unfortunate that this got cast in the way that it did, with the right cast this probably could have been a lot stronger. Holland is just basically playing a snarkier Peter Parker here. And I'm not buying the connection that him and Wahlberg share so quickly. It's underdeveloped, but with a couple of actors that shared better chemistry that wouldn't have been a problem. Because aside from that it's a fairly mediocre adventure movie. Lots of big spectacular set pieces, but they're all pretty hollow. It's a fun enough movie, but with better performers (for these roles) it could have been something really solid.
I have never played the underlying games and maybe this is helpful for enjoying the movie when I read the other reviews. Unfortunately, it didn’t really help me. Everything from this film works according to scheme F and that’s what I say about a film in which a fight between two ships takes place in the air. The actors themselves, especially Mark Wahlberg, also seem unimpressed or uncommitted. Enough for a hungover Sunday, but I would still prefer Indian Jones, maybe just try the seemingly very cinematic games or watch a Lets Play.

Rated it 5 because of Nolan North's cameo. Otherwise, it has nothing of the magic of the Uncharted games. Unfortunately.
I like Uncharted, but it’s just okay as a movie. As a Nintendo fanboy I’m not familiar with the games, so I went in expecting an Indiana Jones type of adventure. I mean, they even reference it multiple times. I was kind of disappointed that it felt more like National Treasure.
The CGI is really bad at times and that makes it look like a videogame cutscene, which is a bummer. The story is quite mediocre, but that’s the case with most movies of this genre. Just shut your brain off, don’t mind the plot holes and the unsurprising twists, and you’re fine.
I like the dynamic between Mark and Tom, but Nathan Drake feels too much like Peter Parker; a nerdy kid who can do parkour, flips and throws around witty remarks. I don’t know if that’s in line with the games, but it feels off for me.
Still, I had fun with it.
Haven't played the games unfortunately, but am keen on doing it.
Decided to watch the movie without that context and found the plot unbelievable. thinking of that whole mechanism below Barcelona's streets just annoyed me. Otherwise it was imaginative although not explaining much of backstory but leaving the suspense for the next one.
Entertaining, fun, an aerial chase with caravels is a first, made for an entertaining watch if you know what you are getting.
Overall seems like a die hard movie origin story. Flashy, but without much content.
Admittedly, I’m biased towards this movie. I love the games. I love the characters. I love the beautiful views. It’s a guilty pleasure experience for me to say the least. Are the characters clones to the game characters? Of course not. Do they mesh together several game story point points? Yep. But it’s a quality video game adaptation and I can’t wait to see more!

Sony's first, flashiest attempt to convert one of their best-loved video game franchises into a bonafide event film. They certainly picked the right game for the job, as the Uncharted series has screamed for a big budget adaptation since, basically, day one. It's cinematic gaming turned cinematic, uh, cinema, but as we've lost direct control of the action, a bit of the thrill has also gone.
Tom Holland is plucky and slippery in the leading role, tackling a younger version of Nathan Drake than we've ever seen on the Playstation. He handles (almost) all of his own stunts, of which there are many, and carries himself like a genuine baby-faced action movie star. Mark Wahlberg is his backup, a cagey veteran with connections to the hero's lost brother who introduces Drake to an underground world of globe-trotting, crypt-creeping and riddle-solving. Wahlberg is less convincing and less essential, often playing the part of the obnoxious third wheel, and probably should've been killed off in the second act. Instead, they work as a duo to uncover villainous plots, forge uneasy alliances, withstand double-crosses (oh, so many telegraphed double-crosses in this picture) and crack ancient, complex puzzles whilst dangling from their fingertips.
Despite all this, Uncharted still feels bland and derivative. As the games essentially wear their Indiana Jones inspiration on their sleeve, some imitation is to be expected, but the lessons learnt from those films don't appear to have been the right ones and the newer film pales in comparison to its elder. Indy knew how to pace himself, how to patiently linger in a moment for maximum effect, how to derive tension and suspense from a tough spot. For Holland and Wahlberg, it all comes so easily, so quickly, that it may as well have never happened at all. The fight scenes are particularly rough, loaded with so many abrupt cutaways that it can be difficult to keep up. I get that this is the modern way, slicing up footage like a trailer, but frankly, that sucks. You've got a willing young star right there, we've already bought into him as a physically-capable hero, so why deny us the opportunity to watch him trade blows with the heavies? It's a microcosm of the film as a whole.
On paper, this probably sounded great, but in execution it's flawed and lacks feeling. Too slick, too predictable, too over-produced, too hurried to tease us with scraps and hints about adventures yet to come, at the expense of the here and now. As big, dumb blockbusters go, it's acceptable enough, but that's not exactly a steep bar to clear and in no way does it whet my appetite for a sequel. Which seems to be the beginning and end of these producers' ambitions.
Silly, ridiculous, huge plot holes, occasionally cringe worthy dialog and action, and absurd action.
Yet, I found myself enjoying the movie!
The acting, for the most part, was good, with good use of its stars in holland, wahlburget, and banderas.
Great scenery shown off by decent camera work, although some parts were too dark.
All in all, a surprisingly good movie. I rated it a 7 out of 10.
Not a great movie. Elements of the game were there which was fun. Tom Holland isn’t right for this role but him and Markie Mark have decent chemistry. Even if they couldn’t settle on accents the whole movie.

AKA - CHARTED: Or How Hollywood is completely UNINSPIRED these days.
It starts off with the middle action scene, I don't know if that was done to grab attention, but it certainly made me realise we're in for a dull ride, filled with poor greenscreen scenes and CGI character replacements.
Marky Mark stands and speaks. sometimes his forehead flexes its curves, doesn't matter, it's just what happens .
Tom Holland shows he did a lot of training for Spider-Man, and we see him do many Spidey things, but in a shirt and without a mask, yet continues to be the apologetic youngling,. Oh and he saves a possibly drowning person, not by blowing into their lungs, but by wishing loudly, I guess consent is needed for life saving ?
It's your standard, Buddy I'm not your buddy, hey you betrayed me, but luckily the other betrayer was betraying the other guy, so I've still got an ally, treasure hunt movie.
Minus a single comedic line. with the most predictable plot you could come up with 10 minutes before the big, I'm-gonna-sell-my-story-but-haven't-written-anything meeting.
There are better, Direct to DVD Disney movies than this.

I thought the dad would be killed in the park, during the talk, I wasn't surprised he was killed 4 minutes later in the car. just disappointed. there's a lovely CG'd fight scene where the knifey woman takes a slam to the floor, her head is slammed hard , the wrong way and should have been instant death, but like the cartoon glass that's been smashed, all is ok
