Villains is a strange but well acted Thriller. That probably could have been great with a little bit more character development.
Good performances, witty humor, visually pleasing, but had thin character development. It was unexpectedly hilarious to me but I wasn’t really emotionally invested in any one character by the time the ending came along. Still an entertaining, short and worthy watch if you’re a fan of the comedy thriller/horror genre.
Well-acted short 90 minutes thriller, although the thrill element is lacking, and characters are neither likeable enough nor reasonable to survive the ordeal. The premise of saving a random girl tied in the basement during robbery and sacrificing their life in the process never makes sense, too savior complex-y, and I hope Villains is the last film to utilize this trope.
3 Thoughts After Watching ‘Villains’:
A knock-off People Under the Stairs with a touch of Bonnie and Clyde. Not a winning pair.
I really enjoy Bill Skarsgård, but his performance here was severely lacking. My opinion for this film began to plummet once he basically started speaking.
This simply has all been done before, but better. Fairly predictable with characters we aren’t very invested in. Disappointing.
Quirky and fun. More heroic than diabolically villainous.
Well that was a little messed up with a crazy family and I enjoyed it and made me laugh at times.
I liked this movie. It was pretty funny.
Only problem is the same problem with all current movies/TV shows... all the men get mutilated or killed and all the females live happily ever after.
The Courtney Barnett end credits were awesome. Movie was tame as fuck though.
Went into this with low expectations and it was surprisingly good.
It's not a horror movie by any stretch of the imagination.. but it is a crime drama.
It doesn't break any new ground in the "bad guys get caught in the house and the unexpected happens" movies... you've seen similar before.
Good time waster, won't win any awards, but the acting was acceptable - Jeffrey Donovan was the best of the bunch.
7.5/10

Oh my god - This movie is so boring.
They somehow took all the boring parts of horror stories and made a movie out of them.
This is what a gore movie looks like when you take all the gore out of it...
