WHAM! 2023

Very enjoyable movie about the background and success of Wham with lots of input from George and Andrew.
Great to see Andrew getting the credit he deserved for the bands success and in-turn GM's solo career.
10/10

Fascinating documentary showing how they only got 4% from U.K. record sales, just 2% worldwide and nothing from 12” records on their first record deal with Innervision & “Fantastic”. Despite 4 top 10 hits and a no.1 album they had no money. Also a great look at how “Careless whisper” was produced and how the first production in the U.S. they both disliked and after ten attempts George finally found the sax player for the song and produced it himself.

Wish they had more footage of people around them at the time, and also if they updated us on how thier doing as of now. Other than that, it was a solid.

[Sheffield '23/Netflix] The film has the ability to be both a reflection of a youthful band and the birth of a musician who had things to say through his music. And it manages to offer an overview while addressing the complex personality of George Michael, confronted at the age of twenty with the discovery of his sexuality when he was already a famous young singer who was promoted as a teenager idol. The film argues that George Michael's development as a musician was not just progressive because he had already composed the significant song "Careless whisper" in the beginning, which becomes a kind of main element of the narrative. And his growing need to fly solo.

Surprisingly moving documentary about the Wham! phenomenon of my youth, and also in showing what an amazing person Andrew Ridgeley is. He was the force that brought out George Michael's talent and he had the grace and wisdom to let his best friend go on without him.
