A modern retelling of Snow White and you won't believe what Snow White does to the dwarves.
Pure as Snow is very modern (Snow White, played impeccably by charming French actress Lou de Laage, is very much an independent, in control young woman, while the 7 men she encounters are as cliché as the dwarves in the children's story) and very much a retelling: I had a blast playing Spot the Similarities between this film and the original tale.
But beware, it would be a mistake to take Pure as Snow too seriously because the film doesn't in the slightest. The heavily staturated colors and the extreme glow in several scenes are used to boost the intentional kitsch level to 11. If the idea of watching John Boorman (Excalibur, 1981) direct a 1970s soft porn comedy doesn't appeal to you, then give this treasure wide berth.
