Nice story about not so mighty gods and superhero fisherman :)
"You will learn someday that being half human, makes you stronger than a god."
Once again I need to just say it: I absolutely love Greek mythology and the encyclopedia of monsters they have. That being said I don't know why the Clash and Wrath of Titans movies can't figure out how to tell a good story. The creature design is awesome, so really you just need guidance on how to tell a good story.
The first film Clash of the Titans like most films that has a sequel is better than this film. I felt like Wrath of the Titans was just an OK movie. It wasn't great, and it wasn't awful either. I never saw Clash of the Titans in 3D so I can't comment on the difference in 3D effects between the two; special effects had improved though. The story line in the film felt boring to me at times, and it could have used a couple of more action scenes in there.
Agreed. These movies need to stop now. 300 was good. All down hill from there..
Oh my ... I think it's even worse than the first one.
I refuse to look at "Wrath of the Titans" as anything but a monster movie. If I think back to the orignal "Clash of the Titans" "Jason and the Argonauts" the "Sinbad" movies we watched for the beasts the Harryhausen creations. We didn't watch them for any deep meaning. We watched them for the action and adventure.
"Wrath of the Titans" may not improve over time but it's not that bad to begin with. There's plenty of excitement including a pretty gripping journey through a labrynth. And then there's those giant monsters. There all CGI but they actually look pretty good. Plus the giant lava god Kronos is as gigantic of a creation as you've ever seen in the movies. Sam Worthington is a personable likeable hero. Liam Neeson and Ralph Fiennes provide solid support as god brothers.
It's all spectacle and it's big dumb fun. Don't expect anything enlightening and you'll enjoy it.
I'm split on this one! In some ways I kinda prefer 'Wrath of the Titans' to its predecessor, though in other ways it is a downgrade.
My positives include the pacing and the use of 'the gods', with both - in my opinion - better done in this 2012 film when compared to the 2010 original. The shorter run time helps, while Liam Neeson and Ralph Fiennes are far better utilised this time.
My negatives include the story and (one or two) new cast/characters. The plot didn't really hold my attention very well, at a number of moments I felt my mind drift away from what was occurring onscreen. I wasn't bored or anything, though I could feel myself lose interest immediately after a scene that promised more than it delivered. As for the latter, Rosamund Pike and Édgar Ramírez are disappointing additions.
With that said, Bill Nighy is a newcomer here and he actually entertained me - probably my standout character from this sequel. Toby Kebbell is a solid newbie too, to be honest. Elsewhere, Ramin Djawadi is missed on music but Javier Navarrete does a perfectly fine job in fairness.
Naturally, I can only speak for myself and to me this is an average, if admittedly forgettable, flick - nought worse.
It was so silly that Perseus had a buzz cut in the first film. That this sequel was made so they could get it right give him long hair lol. I’m kidding, it is actually based on a book, it turns out.
I think I would have took the first film seriously though. If Sam Worthington looked like he does in this film.
Either way this was a pretty forgettable sequel. The first is better despite Worthington’s buzz cut.
I really liked this flick. Im a big fan of the old Sinbad flicks and this is right up that road.

So...
Script; dreadful, absolutely cringeworthy in places. There are scenes when I wondered to myself if they were even trying, then I remembered he wrote last years "Red Riding Hood", so no.
Acting; there should have been some. No, really. Worthington hasn't acted since Somersault back in 2004. Neeson and Fiennes phoned it in and the call was collect.
Creature design; completely uninspired. Some look a little like high school art fair projects that won stickers for participation.
A couple of nice action scenes, but overall entirely forgetable. I woke up this morning and struggled to remember what it was I had watched. I had to check Trakt!
If you do watch it and in 3D, there is a very nice sequence about 7 minutes in I think (Maybe? Could be 30. Who knows, the film made space and time dilate. I was sitting beside a 60 year old version of myself by the third act). It is a reverse drop down a ravine, 180 into free fall and then twists down a tunnel; played hell with my vertigo in the best way. So I enjoyed at least 15 seconds.
Whimper of the Titans is hard to recommend, except to the high school art fair participants for a confidence boost.
