Bad acting .. dull story... awful movie.... waste of money.
I was looking forward to seeing this, then was wanting to like it, to what a fucking disappointment! Like others have said, Kevin Bacon and Amanda Seyfried couldn't even save this disaster. I did get a copy of this, now I'll delete it, it was such a waste of time! Even worse, I wasted my Halloween night watching this garbage.
Hands down the best (horror/thriller) movie I've watched this year. I love Kevin Bacon and I'm into everything he does, but this was a great story and exceptional acting (also by the kid).
It's not a BAD movie, but it didn't construct the premise wisely. I should know by the poster with giant heads.
You Should Have Left''
Whoa, it's spooky that the movie tried to warn to stay away from watching it, but just like a horror movie, I ignored it.
Yuk 93 minutes of my life
I’ll never get back
The only thing good about this movie is the Welsh countryside
Wow this movie is terrible. "You should have left this movie right at the beginning" is what you'll be thinking if you suffer through the whole thing.
I feel like I saw a different movie than other commenters. For me, this one was exceptionally fresh, except for the whole "haunted house" premise. The characters did not do follow the usual "what's that noise? I better check it out because I'm dumb" routine, all three lead actors were SUPERB playing their respective characters and the plot was more than believable (until the supernatural that is).
Definitely a fresh take and, boy oh boy, the house was amazingly well done, interior-wise.
This movie was a big pile of nothing. Kid was super cute though.
I really wanted to like this movie. However, even Kevin Bacon couldn't save this. There just didn't seem to be a point to the movie. Things happened for no reason. Time travel happened out of the blue - huh? - what?! But never actually did anything with it. It kind of felt like they shredded every other page of the script and shot what remained.
It had an interesting concept but wasn't pulled off that great.
I love Kevin Bacon, but Hollywood has got to STOP pairing men with women 30 years younger than them. It's sickening, Bacon was almost 30 when Seyfried was born. What's wrong with these people?! Has David Koepp some sort of wierd fetish? Do we need to worry?
scary scares but no solid followable plotline
"You Should Have Left" mustbe the advise for the people are strart whatching this movie...
very stupid movie.
weak writing and overall concept squander the acting chops on offer from Seyfried and Bacon.
Liked the ending but rest of the movie was dull and boring
Worse than the reviews say it is, which is already pretty bad. They have some moments where they try to be cute with jokes and here and there but that's about it.
Couldn't even get started. When the opening scene includes a young child muttering "G******it" and the next sentence a foggy-headed, half-awake dude is muttering "F***" to himself in the mirror, I have zero interest. I can't give you a "review" of this piece of trash other than to say I have better things to do, and better shows to watch. I did make it as far as the pool scene, and had the language not been enough to turn me off, the subpar acting in that one scene was more than enough to push me over the edge. Thanks for all the comments by those who had the misfortune of sitting through this. You rescued me from this putrefaction.
Kevin Bacon and Amanda Seyfried star in the Blumhouse psychological thriller You Should Have Left. The story follows a family that rents a vacation house in the county, but soon the husband starts to have disturbing dreams and begins to suspect that his wife is cheating on him. Both Bacon and Seyfried give strong performances, and newcomer Avery Essex has a magnetic screen-presence and good chemistry with her co-stars; making for a real family feel between them. However, the script is a little weak and slowly paced. Also, the directing does a poor job at creating suspense; using too many dream sequence fake outs and distortions. Yet while it has some problems, You Should Have Left is an entertaining horror film that has a fair amount of mystery and intrigue.
This damn "It was really him all along" story has been done so many times now it's exhausting. Especially in this case where it was painfully obvious. Then what in the end it was just all good? Weird, pointless movie.
well that was confusing. kinda feelt like a waste of time
A story which seems to be a "Late Bloomer" and I guess it was too late for the movie to becoming interesting! 5/10
You don't need to leave. Despite the baffling ending, this is a decent chiller. Bacon and Seyfried are good and the Welsh setting adds to the mystery.
Trying to make something original, ended up
With a very strange story that truly leaves us empty
Genre cinema that is shot with success, but that cannot avoid being a conventional psychological thriller. The chemistry between Kevin Bacon and Amanda Seyfried doesn't work, and the couple they are is inconsistent. In the end, the script follows the easy path, without shortcuts or risky proposals. It is not intended. Yes, it's a Blumhouse production, so you can't expect anything else.
Kevin Bacon and Amanda Seyfried aren't enough from keeping this not boring for most of the time. The ending is interesting.

More like "You Should Have Left this one in the drafts David Koepp."
For a guy who has written/co-written some of the giants such as "Mission Impossible", "Jurassic Park" and "Panic Room" David Koepps's output this past decade has been mediocre at best--remember the 2017 reboot of "The Mummy"?
Seriously, what happened to this guy? Also, Kevin Bacon and Amanda Seyfried are a couple in this. Go figure.
