I really liked how they incorparated the flashbacks into the show.

"Hannah and Clay's dynamic comes across like a John Green novel." @peacefulhurricane, reddit

Based on the popular young adult book, 13 Reasons Why is brought to the big screen in this Netflix series. An enticing pilot episode centers around Hannah's death and a series of tapes she left behind explaining the reasons for her suicide. The incorporated flashback scenes bring her back to life to tell the stories from her tapes. The most frustrating questions from this episode seems to be: what did Clay do to be part of the tapes and how does Tony know so much it if he wasn't involved in Hannah's suicide?

It's important to remember to hear all sides of a story. Despite Hannah's take on different events, she reminds us that rumors spread fast and we need to stick to the true stories and not the fake ones we make ourselves believe are real.

Intriguing, very intriguing, although I wish I could get a show about teenagers who didn't worship at the alter of old media (maps, tapes, much retro, so old, wow)

This took me completely by surprise. The first episode at least is so well done, the previously mentioned flashbacks flow seamlessly, something I often have criticism over is the way flashbacks often make aa show or movie disjointed or abrupt, not so in this case. I would really recommend checking this out, I am left hanging at the end of the episode for the next one, eager to follow the story.

I I knew it. I'm a little obsessed with this show.
Hannah was kind of creepy.
I want to know what's going to happen to Clay.
And why Tony knows so much?

I got lot of "Life is strange" vibes, that is a compliment. Although, after a while, it seemed cliches were seeping in! It's too early though, too early.

i feel like i'm too old and actually problematic for this shallow emo shit

I dunno. Seems like way more effort than anyone would ever put into their own suicide.

I think the thing that bothered me the most about this episode is how Hannah had the Hunger Games trilogy out of order on her shelf. It went book 3, 1, 2. That makes no sense!

third time watching this, and i FINALLY got the scene with "pardon me, but you really hurt my feelings."

I love hearing Hannah even though we know she has died at least we are getting her story told through flashbacks and why each tape lead to her death how the characters especially poor Clay is involved with the tapes. How everyone is calling her a liar and seems to be hiding something then Justin is such an ass from the very first moment that he stepped onto the screen my heart hurts for her parents. How does Tony fit into the whole scheme of things Bryce looks like an ass already

Wow, that part when Tony told Clay "you are about ready for side two" was well played really from the director in the shows flashbacks and editing.
Tell now the show is very good really, its genre is new for me tbh, but I enjoy it.
And Justin was a real asshole, a little f^^Ker!

Very good start for 13 Reasons Why. I'm sure this show will get very depressing just because of the topics it deals with but on the other hand it's very intriguing and I can't wait to watch the next episode. Also cool music and I like the actors a lot.

Wow, I never expected that this first episode is so good. I have never seen such a good pilot since Breaking Bad.

Excellent first episode, it started a little slow, I thought it was just a light version of Twin Peaks but it picks up steam very fast! Great reversal in the midpoint, great hook in the end. Looking forward for next episode!

Is it weird that I'm getting some "Paper Towns" vibes?
One episode in and I'm really into this!
Clay is such a sweetie. And Tony is a really mysterious dude.

Wow. What a surprise. I expected this to be shallow, and there are parts where it's a little cliche (the boy with the Mustang who's all retro, the main character who is clueless about old tech) and has a couple glaring mistakes (like we're not supposed to know the mysterious car is the Mustang, or how said main character operates the Walkman like it's second nature), I found this pilot episode to be very good. The story kept me on edge and I can't wait to finish it.

After seeing the trailer when it first debuted, I read the Wikipedia article for the book this is based on, and got spoiled for the ending of the book. I found the plot juvenile and convoluted and as a nearly 40 year old man, I felt that I would not empathize with these high school characters, though the premise continued to intrigue me. I mention this to make it clear that while I do not think I am the target demographic, I have found the pilot to be thoroughly enjoyable, and I hope the quality keeps up.

It was worth waiting like 6 years since they said the book was going to be adapted. I'm already hooked with this first episode and sad about Hannah.
