Why, two episodes ago, when Tony asked Clay if he ever saw a dead body or a crime scene, Clay didn't talk about Jeff? It didn't sound like he was lying and in fact, he even asked Tony: how was that like?
Poor Jeff, I didn't realize before that he wasn't in the present timeline. It is now obvious why. So sad!
That was a pretty good twist that I didn't see coming. I do enjoy the mystery aspects of this. I just wish there was a tad less melodrama. But, it comes with the territory.
As someone else commented, though, this means that Clay lied to Tony when he was asked if he had ever seen a dead body. I feel like that should've been addressed here, when Clay admitted he was first on the scene of the accident to Tony. Instead it feels kind of like a retcon oversight.
What an ending! That was so intense.
The ending of this episode really got to me. “You killed Hannah Baker.” I’m so stoked for the next episode. Wow, the themes of guilt are wonderful. It’s amazing that I’m starting to like Tony more, because in the first half of the season, he was an absolute creep tbh. But as for the episode, I’m iffy about. It’s way much less about Hannah’s reasons for killing herself anymore, but more focusing on Clay. I feel like the writing is a little jumbled here. Like another girl causing somebody else to get killed through a mistake, causes Hannah to kill herself? I understand she feels guilty, but suicide is not always the option. I just don’t really see this reasoning as a reason to kill herself. I felt bad for the guy who died, and I really felt bad for Clay. But I’m just not really feeling it all because this whole plot seems to sidetrack from Hannah Baker. Eh. And we are still at this party. Three episodes take place at this party, and it’s getting kinda old. Meh. This was the only second one. As always, the parents were exceptional. But I kinda wish this was more about Hannah. Shocking, I know :P
So sad to know that Jeff is dead. Only good person in that whole school, shame.
Clay tape next, my heart is jumping from fear. And I'd like to think Tony meant that clay killed Hannah's heart!! i don't know hope So!
Another heavy and heartbreaking episode revealing more of what happened at Jessica's party. Clay reveals he was the first to find Jeff dead in a car crasb. He also learns from Hannah's tape that she was part of the reason that led up to it. She blamed herself for what happened even though she had no control. Clay visits Jeff's parents and tells them his memory of that night believing it will bring him some relief.
After ep9 the heat begins.
