The grocery store owned by Else and Paul Lehmanns is a meeting point for the neighbors. Because here not only goods are sold but also friendly help. And there are many reasons for this in everyday life in West Berlin in the 1970s: sometimes an accident happens right in front of the shop, sometimes Paul Lehmann wants to create a playground for the neighbors' children, sometimes a neighbor in the hospital suffers from poor conditions and sometimes relatives from East Berlin come to visit . And of course there is also the daughter Monika, who is married to Herbert Münch, a realtor, and whose two children all too often need the time and help of their grandfather.
