After the Flood 2024

I'm torn between if I'll watch season 2 or not. I want to because it will probably be a lot better, but I don't because I don't want to feel like I wasted my time again. The whole season felt like a trailer for the next. It felt rushed, unrealistic, flat, and comical as well as entertaining, edgy, and thought-provoking. All in all, it's definitely average, from the acting to the plot. All up until the last episode were it all felt packed in, up until it wasn't, and you realise everything you watched was a build-up. Lorraine Ashborne really carried this on her bare back, quite literally. The humour at times had me giggling like a school girl.

It has all the elements to be a good police drama, but it sinks in the middle of the flood because of a script that fails to support characters as implausible as the protagonist herself, a police officer who is too superficial. Between the expository dialogues and the flashbacks that tell what the characters have explained before, the narration is so mediocre that it even ends up being comical in the last episodes, with a superwoman who is capable of giving birth in the wreckage of a crashed car.

It's like watching a bad low-budget soap opera.
It's not just because it's slow, but the writing is lame and everyone is over-acting.
35 minutes was more than long enough before switching off.
