I haven't read the book but I see from reviews elsewhere that, although this adaption veers quite significantly away from it, it is a similar mess and a low point in Christie's writing. The big plus point is seeing Poirot reunited - albeit for very few scenes - with Japp, Hastings, and Miss Lemon - but the story is over the top and has a disappointingly silly conclusion. I suppose it's good for completionist's sake that they adapted this story but it's certainly not one I'll find myself readily watching again and again.

I started watching this episode and was like ... this has Mark Gatiss' grubby little hands all over it. Lo and behold, he co-wrote the screenplay. It was truly bad!
