It would seem like the perfect plan; get Kawamori Shoji, the head creative mind behind the original idols in space anime franchise, Macross, to craft a scifi epic based on the mega popular Akihabara 48. But if this first installment is anything to go by it lacks the spark of it's fore-bearer. Music is outlawed on many worlds across the galaxy and those who would attend AKB0048's concerts face prison and violence.

Based on the one episode I think the main problem is the lack of sympathetic military organization, and not enough hints into the endgame to even pique my curiosity as to why the entertainment ban exists. There just isn't enough meat, and world building holding up the scifi end of things. The entertainment ban on the surface would seem to make more sense in relation to Windemere in Kawamori's current project Macross Δ where parallels to situations like the Iron Curtain can be drawn.

I will probably watch more, since I've liked much of Kawamori's other work, but I'm not in a big hurry.
