Arrow: Season 7

7x09 Elseworlds (II)

Never watched the Arrow before, but only for The Crossover. I thought it was hilarious how they kept on mentioning Quantum Leap-one of my favorite tv shows, as a type of problem The Flash and Arrow are going through.

Welp, I enjoyed this. Kate Kane was interesting, would love to watch a new show about Batwoman tbh, in a style of The Arrow.. or maybe more like Jessica Jones-dark theme? Yes please sign me up.

Loved all the easter eggs!

Wow this was bad. Batwoman was awful. I usually skip the crossovers, I regret that I did not skip this.

So much to unpack...
Arkham asylum has a random button that opens all cells and keeps scarecrow's serum all in one box in a storage room? Heavy handed references all round. It was like season 1 of Gotham.
Felicity is still an insufferably OP character.

Ruby Rose walks like she just got body swapped and isn't used to her new one yet.

Also laughing forever at Deathstroke's son. What the actual fuck? Is hiring austrailian models who can't act the theme of the episode?

this was actually really bad and wait, Kate kane, there's a show coming up Oct 2019. you know batwoman will it be the same actress? don't like it, it sounds weird:Batwoman
Kate Kane, armed with a passion for social justice and a flair for speaking her mind, soars onto the streets of Gotham as Batwoman, an out lesbian and highly trained street fighter primed to snuff out the failing city's criminal resurgence. But don't call her a hero yet. In a city desperate for a savior, Kate must overcome her own demons before embracing the call to be Gotham's symbol of hope.

it's just too much hero stuff all the marvel crap mcu, all those dc movies and shows dcu. I'm tired of it.

Very weak and disappointing, they could do better.

"This is why nobody talks about Gotham." Hahahah. "Mama raised you right, so right you couldn't stop me from killing her." Oh my god, I knew Thawne was evil, but that was savage.
I'm also glad that once more, the Crossover is here to fix Oliver and Felicity's relationship issues. And did I see that correctly, the book of destiny is written in Nora's time language? This is the best crossover ever.

Earth-90 Barry Allen: Hello, John. You're not wearing your ring. Things must be different here.

Can't argue with Oliver about Batman. He's right Green Arrow is the only infamous vigilante.

Ugh. Grant is wasted on The Flash. It needs to be cancelled and for him and Danielle to join Arrow or Supergirl.

I liked Ruby Rose in Orange is the New Black, she was alright as a villain in John Wick, and I like her as an LGBT representation, so I've been looking forward to her role. The teasers of her having long red hair and watching over the city looked promising. Then, to my surprise and disappointment, she appeared unmasked and there was nothing Batwoman about her - I was looking at Ruby Rose with her tattoos, makeup, same short haircut and a very fake American accent. She did look better in the suit but it was still quite unpolished, making her forehead even bigger than it actually is and lacking detail. I try to watch all series based on superhero comic books and I surely will be watching the standalone series but I have no hope for it at the moment, although it may somehow get better in later seasons if renewed, just like The Flash and Supergirl.

Another mostly fun hour, with Barry (the real one) and Kara once again providing most of the humor at Oliver's (the real one) expense. Meanwhile, Felicity proves once again that there isn't a scene that she can't ruin or an ounce of fun that she can't bring to a screeching halt with her mere presence. Which is exactly how it was back when I watched the show regularly, so she once again gets points for fun-sucking consistency. Other than that, it was a pretty impressive introduction for Batwoman -- better than I was expecting but still not enough to get me to sample another Berlanti show if it actually goes to series. As it stands, I'm just a Legends guy these days until one of these crossovers comes along, and that's enough for me.
