How could I have missed this show for so long!
Myne, She's not your typical hero with flashy powers or epic battles. Nope, she's just a bookworm (hence the title), but man, does she make being a bookworm look cool! Myne's determination to get her hands on books in a world where they're a luxury item is both inspiring and heartwarming. You can't help but root for her every step of the way.
The world-building in this anime is top-notch. From the intricate societal structures to the magical elements seamlessly woven into everyday life, you'll find yourself completely immersed in the world of "Ascendance of a Bookworm." And let's not forget the attention to detail in the setting – it's like every frame is a work of art.
Now, onto the supporting cast. Myne's relationships with those around her – from her family to her newfound friends – are so genuine and beautifully depicted. Each character feels fleshed out and important to the story, adding layers of depth and emotion to the overall narrative.
And can we take a moment to appreciate the animation? It's absolutely stunning! The colors, the fluidity of the movements, everything is just chef's kiss. Whether it's a quiet moment between characters or a bustling market scene, the animation brings the world of "Ascendance of a Bookworm" to life in a way that's truly breathtaking.
Sure, there might be a few minor gripes here and there – maybe an episode feels a tad slow or a subplot isn't as developed as you'd like – but honestly, they're like tiny specks of dust in an otherwise gleaming masterpiece.
There is going to be a season 2
It does have a slower start, but the story is well thought out, well written, and before you know it you're totally hooked. I like that it doesn't get stuck just repeating the same thing repeatedly; the story progresses, and it makes sense as it all unfolds. At the start I kindof liked it, and by the end of season 3 it's become one of my all-time favorites.
Got to be honest, I didn't quite like it but the story dragged me in and now I'm invested.
While the show trys to be upbeat, it has some pretty dark undertones (probably due to the nature of the original work). It doesn't shy away from the reality of classism and lack of widespread education. There were times where I was waiting for the protagonist to rail against the inequality and manipulation when instead, she simply accepts it for what it is. This show is certainly a slice-of-life, it simply isn't the kind of life I'd like to be living in.
Regardless, I'm looking forward to see how the story unfolds. The shows obviously well thought-out with interesting characters.
Air date is off by one day. Airs Tuesdays not Monday

This was one of those must watch Slice of Life anime(s). Character animation was very unique and lovable.
It started off as a anime for books but later became a bit of trade based anime.
Plot was very heart-warming, especially of the last episode of Season 1.
Edit: Now I've watched Season 2 but I still need more. Hoping for more seasons.
Edit 2: Season 3 was a lot more action filled and gave a lot more insight details of the nobles. This has quite a vast storyline so I'm again hoping for a sequel.
