This ambush in the beginning was extremely mysterious? Why would they not bing more soldiers? With gladii! Why all that yelling? Wouldn't an ambush per definitionem be more successful if the attacker acted quietly? I mean Germanicus is one of Rome's great strategists, wasn't he? His name is still known today. But that's quite underwhelming. It's of course the plot armor I hate the most. All leading figures aren't hit because the writers still need them.
PS: that river and canyon isn't in what is today Northern Germany. Where was that shot? In CGI-land?
Another mediocre episode. Some aspects are still nice (Latin, Roman armor, the Roman castellum, the huts and villages of the Germanic tribes). Some aspects are kind of dull or outright stupid (like all the mystery elements and the wooden dialogues).
Great start to the episode & end but the middle was just plain waste of time filler.
