A series that makes a co-star of a secondary character, who was better portrayed in Yves Saint Laurent (Jalil Lespert, 2014) as a dark and manipulative careerist, and that in reality explains nothing about Karl Lagerfeld's professional career and very little about his private life. Which finally makes the story have a soap opera tone that seems more interested in the couturier's platonic love than in his relevance as an artist. And despite taking place in a complex decade marked by the expansion of the AIDS epidemic, it never explains anything about the context.
