Tim Gunn voicing a sewing machine. Incredible.
[6.0/10] This was definitely a milder episode. The character with the biggest focus was Gene which is rarely a good recipe for the show. There’s the germ of a good idea here -- Gene recognizing that the person he finds so annoying is someone who shares a lot of his same traits -- but the execution is....well...annoying. At the same time, Louise pestering Tina to get something cheap with her share of the gift card money so that Louise can get an archery set goes on for so long with no real contrition in a way that just makes Louise seem like a jerk, rather than a lovable scamp.
Linda’s story isn’t bad. I like the idea that she wants to use the whole gift card on a sewing machine because she loves sewing stuff for the kids. There’s something adorably “mon” about her enthusiasm for the sewing machine, and her having conversations with it in her head is a laugh. Likewise, Bob’s daydreams about kettle weights or a beanie with a light on it are good for a laugh.
Overall though, this one is pretty scattered in its structure, which can work for Bob’s Burgers if the jokes are funny enough and the bite-sized stories are endearing enough. Unfortunately, this one didn’t quite measure up.

Totally didn’t end how I thought, where there’d only be a few bucks in the gift card.
