[7.2/10] Solid episode. Checked all the right boxes. The laughs were a little mild, but there’s a few highlights, including Tina’s line that “This is so, so fun, and I’m not anxious at all” and the ambling dog mascot who checks to see if Big Bob is dead. But for the most part, this one elicits smiles more than knee-slaps.
But that's okay! The emotional throughline of Bob worrying about his father’s doomerism scaring the kids isn’t bad. I appreciate the finish. The kids forcing Bob to realize that he too can be overly negative is a nice dose of perspective. And Big Bob explaining to a talking clam that he doesn’t say fatalistic things about the future to his grandkids because he thinks they’ll be part of the solution to the problems he’s worried about is sweet.
The kids getting trapped in the booth for “clam-stradamus” is an amusing enough setup. Again, the jokes are hit or miss, but bottom out at chuckle-worthy. And as is my wont, I got a kick out of the Linda/Teddy B-plot about Teddy trying to take a good picture for a handyman site. The Teddy serial killer gags were amusing, and the fact that him eating one of the restaurant’s burgers is what gets him to give a genuine smile is a wholesome note to go out on.
Overall, a straightforward but still amiable episode of the show.
