[7.9/10] What I like about this one is how it starts out with a very sitcom-y premise -- business owner has to deal with some kind of evaluator when inevitably things go wrong -- and takes it to a very unsitcom-y, out there, arguably deranged place.
I like how Bob fixates and overstresses over the restaurant review from the titular Moody Foodie. The way the Belchers try to play it cool but inevitably freak out and screw up the review meal experience is great, and trademark Bob’s Burgers. It’s the right blend of that typical Belcher lunacy.
But even better is the aftermath. I like when we get angry Bob, and him yelling at passersby that they’re “dry and overdone”, while Louise eggs him on, is just an outstanding moment. Plus his naptime nightmare about life at a cubicle farm is one of the show’s all time great bits.
The eventually kidnapping and attempted force-feeding is a weird place to take things, but that what makes it fun and unique. Bob’s epiphany about Tin Cup, of all things, and his own review-based hypocrisy is nice, and his “half price meal for every bad review you bring in” is an even better button to put on thing.
Plus the superb Resevoir Dogs homage with the wet willy is made all the better by a barely-there vocal cameo from Michael Madsen! And I should definitely add that Patton Oswalt does a great job at directing his usual pop cultural snark/nerd critique on the local Wonder Wharf cuisine in the Moody Foodie role.
Overall, another great Bob’s episode that goes to some out there places, but enjoyably so.
I’m pretty sure this exact plot happened in always sunny in Philadelphia
and I started to watch this sitcom only because it has good reviews... and continue to watch because it's HECKING GREAT!
