Though an earlier episode actually aired at the end of season 1, this here was written and produced as the season finale, and it goes all out with our kids firmly getting their telegram of puberty (such a weird yet fun way to put it), as Shawn dives head first into the void of chasing girls, and Corey, in his attempt to get back at him, begrudgingly asks Topanga out on a date. How that unfolds, as genuine feelings between them emerge, while still coming from the childlike innocence that produced those soon to be gone opening titles, is very nicely done, smoothing over some awkwardness with genuinely sweet humor and affection. And what a nice little showcase for Minkus in what was sadly filmed as his last appearance before getting unceremoniously axed from the show. Definitely one of the essential episodes.
