What a strange episode for CHiPs. It was almost immediately that I realized this wasn't a typical episode. It had some weird music that felt like an attempt to conjure up the Hitchcock atmosphere. Also obvious, was different and strange camera angles as if some hooligans stormed the set of CHiPs and grabbed the cameras. Then, there was the forced and obviously fake inclusion of the female detectives from another town. I had to google to see why this was so different - only to find out that it was a failed attempt at a pilot for a spinoff show. Good thing this didn't get the green light because it was so bad. It was like they were trying to steal ingredients from "Cagney and Lacey" and "Murder She Wrote" and force it into the CHiPs recipe.
Blech! I saw probably 80% of these episodes during their first run, but definitely missed this one. Actually, I probably started watching it and changed the channel!
