This is probably a nice show for people who like Kate Mara, but if you don't want to see her it's a harder watch.
She was dull and boring as that teacher sleeping with the student, and seems to still have a cardboard personality here.
There are other actresses who can play lead parts in stuff. I wish they had picked someone else.
The story was really fascinating but the writing just didn’t deliver. Not that it was low budget, but I just feel like Hulu slashed the budget at the end, forcing the ending. It’s good, just not great.
This show isn't anywhere as bad as people have made it out to be. It's a good story, even if the subject matter and premise isn't new. The main characters are interesting and the way the show is interweaves the story through three distinct points of time keeps things interesting. It's not full of action but it makes up for it in questions of honor, morality, trials and redemption. Worth the watch if you're into mind candy.
Feels like a rehash of the movie and television show "Minority Report."
OK, I've admitted before, I like police dramas. Not really all those shoot 'em up shows, but the shows about the intelligence side of it. I enjoyed this show. Had a different concept, although it reminded me of Minority Report a little bit. The actors were good in their roles, each fit the part well. (Question - am I the only one that noticed the FBI female trainer was the young girl Clarice saved from Buffalo Bill? How nice she came back full circle to work for the FBI....LOL) Good idea for a TV show. Most people probably feel the police view everyone as a suspect until proven otherwise. Also good to show how horrible wrong that can be.
:heart:x6
I really wanted to like this, but I did not like it a whole lot. This is basically a mix of Minority Report (2002) and Quantico (2015).
This show was a bit slow. Also the constant jumping between 3 different time-lines was just annoying, and boring at times. I think that 2 time-lines would have been better.
How I rate:
1-3  = seriously! don't waste your time
4-6  = you may or may not enjoy this
7-8  = I expect you will like this too
9-10  = movies and TV shows I really love!
This show is slow, half way thru and you can see that it was unreal. She went undercover and they made her showing up to make the arrest by wearing FBI outfit. How stupid is that to flow the informant that no-one knew about!!!
I just stopped at that moment. Grrrr
The topic of fighting crime in the future through data collection and the use of AI promises an exciting narrative, but unfortunately the series fails to fully exploit this potential. Despite the interesting approach, the story never really gets going, which is mainly due to the structure of Class of '09 (2023).
One major problem is the constant jumping between three different time levels. While the storyline in the past deals with the training of the characters in 2009 and offers a logical and coherent concept, the storyline in the future is particularly convincing thanks to the successful visual realization of an advanced world in the near future, it is above all the storyline in the present that damages the entire series with major weaknesses. The present-day plot is overloaded as a link between the past and the future, in which new conflicts arise, characters have to be told further and plot elements are created on which the future levels are then supposed to build. This narrative technique prevents the story from developing sufficiently in the individual time levels. As a result, the viewer is often left with incomplete and fragmented storylines, which detracts from the overall experience.
Brian Tyree Henry is convincing in the role of Tayo Michaels, a character with clear motivation who is given a good foundation in the past level, so that the character's actions in the future are always based on a comprehensible motive. On the other hand, Kate Mara's performance falls well short of expectations and she is unable to carry the plot convincingly.
What Class of '09 (2023) then tells does not come across as new and innovative, but rather as a blend of well-known genre representatives such as Person of Interest (2011-2016), Minority Report (2002) or 1984. The series uses the familiar narrative threads of its predecessors, gives them the AI stamp of approval, but has no new approach itself and the topic is not really new either: there is already various software that deals with the prediction of crimes based on data analysis. On the other hand, the successful visualization of the future deserves a positive mention. The depiction of technological developments and their impact on society is convincing.
Overall, Class of '09 (2023) falls short of expectations despite its promising subject matter and visual realization. A clearer structure and a stronger focus on individual storylines would have been urgently needed.
Great premise. The writing is quite bad - glosses over important plot points and dwells on scenes that don’t really add much to the plot or character development. By the time it gets to the end of the season I was more interested in the story winding up than any of the characters or the consequences of the main plot line.
Don't waste your time with this. If you want a crime procedural about AI, just watch Psycho-Pass instead. I'm serious.
its a slow burner but its about the best show that's been on in a summer of rubbish shows
This could be a season of BLACK MIRROR. It’s premise is around the false hope that artificial intelligence can replace human judgement. The acting is good. The way the story unfolds can get muddy but I found it distracting. I give this series a 7 (okay) out of 10. [SciFi Crime Drama]
stop filming in 4k it takes vibrant color away and I can't see everything is dimmed down. watch old movies from 80s then this you'll see even watch dexter, let 4k be non existent
first two episodes where okay then i dont like it anymore its just not for me. sorry..
Another one of those -- "Let's stretch a one and a half hour movie into a 10 episode streaming show ... Also, let's put AI in the description, so hot right now. ...." -- type situation.
Good news is, Kate Mara goes from young FBI grad to MILF and then to GILF in every episode. So we have that going for us. I'm two episodes in, and have no idea what else is going on in this show.
5/10 MEH
Based on the first two episodes, I’m not to impressed.
It’s very confusing and I’m not to sure what it is that I’m supposed to make of it or just what the storyline is??????
The three timelines at the moment doesn’t work either and just adds to the confusion, normally I find this kind of format easy to follow and if done right can be intriguing….
I’ve also not bonded with any of the characters at the moment, again I can’t put my finger on it, but something isn’t working at the moment…
I will give it another 1-2 episodes and hope that something happens grabs me…..
Haven’t watched an EP yet, but from the plot seems like True Detective vibes!
I like this format of watching three timelines at once
