Cunk on... 2018

[Netflix] Funnier than the films created by Charlie Brooker for Netflix, the idea is sustained thanks to the character that Diane Morgan has performed for years. This idiot reporter who believes her cousin more than the experts, is the reflection of a society that prefers unidirectional knowledge. The show is not as superficial as it seems, although the comedy is structured around the same idea of anachronistic questions to surprised historians. Philomena Cunk represents the worst face of historical presenteeism, and despite this, she is capable of drawing us a smile from her serious face.

Philomena Cunk is one of TV's most underrated fictional characters! God I need more seasons!

I am in the US, so I was unfamiliar with this character, but it took 5 minutes for me to be laughing hard. Her deadpan, serious delivery of the most ridiculous things

"Did the Ancient Romans invent Anal Bleaching", "So were the pyramids build from the top down, or bottom up", and my absolute favorite was right after she talked to the guy about not being able to see the Great Wall of China from space "Is it invisible?" followed by "The real question here, does anyone know if China has a roof?". On Jesus "All paintings of Jesus are either as a Baby or being crucified... Did anyone ever paint him as a baby being crucified?"

If you have Netflix, this is now available in the US, and my only complaint is that there are only 2 seasons...

Sort of a "Borat type" show, and it's pretty hilarious. I can see where some folks might not want to binge on this show because you can get embarrassed on behalf of the folks she asked idiotic questions of, but it's still a pretty funny show.

It's not "superficial". I think anyone saying that is missing the joke

This is brilliant. I love her. I love Brooker. I loved her on all of Brooker's mokumentary stuff. This is gold

Such a good dead pan, sarcastic, dry humoured educational mockumentary. The best type of education is always entertaining. If you can make history, which is stereotypically boring, somehow entertaining, then you've already caught my attention. Luckily, I love history, and I love satire, so this is perfect for me. I need more to rate it higher, though. Alot more, not because it's lacking but because I want more.

Show and season 2 rated a 7.4

This is like The Ali G Show back in the day, where they somehow get serious British “experts” to participate in interviews where the interviewer makes a complete ass of themselves, with a straight face. :joy:

Was expecting more from Charlie Brooker than an uninspired and dumbed down Ali G ripoff. Too forced and obvious for this Brit.

As I'm currently going through a hard time this was exactly what I needed. It was really funny and enjoyable and not one to be taken seriously. I would definitely watch this again

I was fun at certain points; the humor is very British. However, it overstays its welcome, and kinda grew stale with the episodes.
