8.8/10. One of those great episodes of Daria that somehow manages to combine sharp cultural commentary, superb silly humor, and wonderful character-to-character exploration as well. The exploration of Daria herself, the way that, as Helen puts it, her view of the world can be a little black and white and unyielding and how she recognizes that, is great writing. At the same time, the moments where she takes a step back, reflects, and relents, shows real growth and adds depths to a character who wasn't lacking it to begin with. At the same time, her reconciliation with Jane was touching but also pitch perfect for those characters. It's a great followup to the Tom-stuff from last season's finale, which had some good stuff, but wasn't nearly as well-pitched or crafted as this episode.
