Defending Jacob 2020

I'm kinda surprised at some comments made earlier on the show when the finale was released earlier today. Just finished it, wonderful show. The pace of which the story progresses is just about right, with enough twists and reveals along the way to keep you on the edge of your seat. One of my favorites for sure. I hope tv+ keeps it up with such quality productions.

What an absolutely phenomenal gripping and enthralling series. I’m glued to the screen

What a waste of time.

Not gonna lie, I was pleasantly surprised by the outstanding performances. Mr. Evans' specifically. Great plot, even though I would've loved a more of a "clear" ending. However, I feel like we all know what happened. I watched it in one sitting and wasn't even bored for a second. Highly recommend it!

High quality show. It's kind of realistic and the show doesn't make you feel like an idiot (unlike so many movies and tv shows these days). There are some minor holes and shortcuts imo but it's fine.
So did he do it?

It was intense till the last minute. I binge-watched this show because I had no idea until the last minute. Very well done and I am going to own the book.

After watching the trailer I was like "whoa" and then I waited a few weeks for it to air. But after the second episode I was no longer that interested. I mean I am going to see it through. It is better than like 80% of most tv shows airing right now. But it could have been better. The story is there. I think the actor playing Jacob is the problem.

i really enjoyed this series! it kept me thoroughly interested the entire time and i literally didn't want to watch anything other than this until i finished it. not the biggest fan of how it ended, though, as others have said. it sort of leaves you to make your own conclusion, and while i appreciate the intention and what they were going for, i honestly just felt really unsatisfied with how it ended. that being said, i still highly recommend!

Found this recommendation on Reddit and I really enjoyed this miniseries! You go back and forth between trusting Jacob and then being like you are evil. I finished this in a day because it bothered me when I wasn’t watching it, that I didn’t know the conclusion.

Very good series, but a so-so ending. Did he or didn't he? We're always asking that question throughout the series and kept guessing all the way along. Brilliant!!

The boy has the personality of a baked potato - if he was my kid, I'd trade him in for a goldfish. Everyone else is great.
10/10

one hell of a show tbh and Chris evans oh god yes

Haven’t even started it yet, just through the intro and already the theme song is giving me Dexter vibes! Really enjoyed Dexter, so while it’s probably nowhere near the same type, I hope to enjoy this too!

just enough to make me want to know what's going to happen next one negative for me is the boy is pretty annoying

The only show for a long time that truly had me gripped. Couldn't wait to tune in every week, for the next rollercoaster episode, the show constantly sparks different theories through out your head.
Bring on season 2.

This show would have got a 10/10 from me if it wasn’t for that ending?!! We were waiting for the next episode to start, thinking we had one more to watch for the resolution… what! What a crappy ending! Such a shame :(

I haven't watched Defending Jacob, and I'm not sure I'll add it to my queue. I'm here to drop the coincidences between this title and Before and After (1996). Both "killer" sons are post-pubescent boys named Jacob, with both middle-class families situated in small town, Mass. Even the trailer for Defending Jacob centers on the title line of the 1996 film, "There's only before and after."

I just finished binging three of the four film adaptions from Herman Koch's 2009 novel, The Dinner (Dutch: Het diner): Het Diner (2013, Netherlands), I nostri ragazzi (2014, Italy) and The Dinner (2017, USA). So I'm a little fried on "bad-seed-killer-spawn prompts middle-class mommies and daddies to do terrible things in the name of their 'special innocents.' " There isn't enough Michelle Dockery content, and I'm so tempted to watch her in something contemporary, but this series is probably not that special.

I watched for Jaeden but I ended up with great casts, emotional twist, and lots of thinking about the story

First episode, and we almost fell asleep. How is this 84%? Are these reviews fake?!

The Killing had good early episodes. Little Big Lies was very intriguing (season 1). Mare of Easttown tells a very similar story with similar color filters and it's was better than this.

Maybe episode 2+ are awesome? I will never know because the first episode was so boring.

I love how the ending puts you in the same position as his parents: did he do it or not? We’ll never know

i don't know if i liked the end of the show or tbh
like
I'm kinda lost,why this end I don't know
but i liked everything else
acting and storyline besides how much darkness they showed by just Camera tone

bc it wasn't enough

A good series but very slow, could have been 2 episodes shorter at least!!

I thoroughly enjoyed the show. It's too bad it's just a miniseries. I hope they renew it like they did "Little Fires Everywhere!".:hugging::hugging:
