"I know you did it, you have a knife" - REALLY?!? The writer was getting ahead of himself like so often...
Even kids aren't that stupid. Every boy in my class had a knife and also carried it in school (yes, it was forbidden, but what did we care...). Having a knife doesn't make you a murder-suspect. Its just plain stupid writing.
Of course other stuff will come up, doesn't make that line less stupid!
Started watching this simply because I am a fan of Chris Evans. The pilot did not disappoint. Worth the watch.
My brother is a huge Chris Evans fan (loves the MCU) so I tuned in with him for the pilot. This is probably the definition of bland, with its look, its unlikeable characters, and poor story. In other words, why is everyone excited for this>
It's also the umpteenth poor man David Fincher looking TV series I've seen (others that fit the bill are The Outsider, Ozark, and The Crown), I think Morten Tydlum is a lousy film director and he just copied an aesthetic that people should shy away from since so many shows have modelled themselves after the Fincher bleak look.
Besides that, the story isn't strong enough to warrant eight episodes (like Sharp Objects, Normal People and I Know This Much is True, TV writers really have to ask why it's a miniseries and not a film). Plenty of the writing is awful and could pass off as a Law and Order spinoff with sort of big film stars (Tom Hanks is a household name, not sure if Chris Evans is one but we'll figure that out post-Captain America, this being his first project to shy away from his famous role).
Won't be binging the rest because my brother already told me how it ends and panned the series as well. Can't speak too much on behalf of the cast it just looked super awkward that Chris Evans is quite young and he's supposed to be the dad of Jaeden Martell. This is probably the type of role someone like Jason Bateman or Greg Kinnear was meant for, an average day joe who's middle-aged and has his world turned upside down.
Possibly the worst thing I've seen this year, and I only saw the pilot.

This brings me back to “The Killing” type vibe - very dark environment and feel. I really enjoyed this and think Chris Evans is a natural, can’t wait to see how it progresses.
