The episode was very clever in its attempt to make people believe that the reason for Mike and Susan’s separation was death. After all, they showed the accident at the beginning that was very serious, Mike was thrown out. And then, no sign of him. Susan is involved with this painter and then she had that dialogue in the restaurant, explaining the reasons why she couldn’t get serious with anyone at that moment... I could only think he was dead. Not to mention that moment when Mike appeared in front of the house and just stood there staring, as if he were a vision, a spirit.
Well, from Susan’s flashback, we can assume that the reason for the breakup is blame for the accident. On the one hand, Susan is mortified that a mother and daughter died in that collision and she believes they are directly responsible. On the other hand, Mike doesn’t accept to carry it on his back and can’t stand to hear Susan talking about it all the time... It’s natural then that they couldn’t continue in the relationship like this. It’s not what I wanted or expected after so many things they went through to be together, but it’s coherent. Other than that I don’t notice any big changes in Susan. She was just afraid to move on because of these events, but with the final dialogue, I think she’s now going to allow herself to once again fall in love with Jackson... We’ll see.
Gaby has changed the most by far. At least in appearance, since she remains very sharp in comedy. Her clothes, her hair... She’s kind of sloppy, and I also think it’s natural for the situation she’s in now. With two daughters, with a blind husband... Besides, she still has to deal with criticism and judgment from other mothers. I was sorry when she heard the others blaming her for her daughter’s weight... Juanita is cute (the actress is Demi Lovato’s sister, for those who don’t know) and the youngest appeared very quickly, but she’s also cute. Gaby making the girl run after the car to lose weight was great. I have fun with the crazy ideas she has. And it’s a pity that Carlos is still blind...
Bree is too legendary becoming a successful businesswoman. But the selfishness towards Katherine was totally unnecessary. It didn’t hurt to put credits to the recipes they created together and also the recipes Kath made herself. They’re partners, huh. What’s the problem? I thought the punishment Katherine gave her on camera was well done. And I laughed a lot with the hot sugar dripping on the presenter’s face. The situation with Benjamin, however, was HORRIBLE. Danielle was never any good, but she reached another level by going there and simply deciding to take the boy away. He was already about 2 years old or so when it happened. And what the fuck was she saying she had no choice? Please. The day she gave birth, Bree took the boy into her room and asked if she really wanted this. Danielle for a moment didn’t even want to see the child and then she said that what they were doing was right. Now she says Bree made the choice for her?
I think the Carver twins are really cute. And I think Porter and Preston in this episode behave like 16-year-olds, nothing new in their petty attitude. Lying to parents, omitting things, coming home late. And they were always troublesome. I love Lynette so much using Tom’s car against his arguments. It was well done since he didn’t support the punishment she gave for the casino they did at the Pizzeria. Tom breaking his car mirror to show that he cares about the twins and then he added that he ordered a new one was funny too.
Edie returned in style. I so enjoy those first moments with the girls. Susan asking whose husband Edie is now married to made me laugh out loud. Too bad what happened at the party, their disagreement... I don’t think the girls had to apologize, as much as I think what they did at the end of season 4 was unfair. Edie was kicked out and boycotted... But she did it, so she might as well see it all as a fresh start, a new chance... Although she didn’t even want to go back to Wisteria Lane, as she exposed with Dave. It was his decision and there’s a reason... He went through a psychiatric clinic, showed some disturbing behavior. He needs to keep in touch with the psychiatrist. And in that “interview”, he said that there is only one person in the world who needs to be careful – and the contrast of the audio with the scene shows that this person is right there on that street.
A few observations: this accident was so badly handled... Mike and Susan’s car slammed into the back of the other car, literally at the end of the car, and their car was thrown into the air, flipped... And they survived. And the others, whose car barely moved in the crash, ended up dying. I love the show with all my strength, but they could have done more filming this sequence, right? For an accident with people thrown and fatalities, it wasn’t very convincing.
Another thing you can see is that when they introduced Jackson in the previous episode as Susan’s new lover, they still had no idea what he would really be as a character. After all, she came home at night saying “I’m home” and he was there alone wearing a suit. Now we find out that he was hired to paint the house and it’s a secret relationship. It doesn’t make any sense for him to be in the house alone, since she doesn’t even want him to meet her son, and even more wearing a suit HAHA.
