[7.5/10] There’s not much to do this one, but it’s full of charm. Simply seeing the whimsical inner workings of Santa’s workshop comes with a distinct pleasantness, in line with Mr. Rogers’ visits to various factories on his show. There’s nothing that novel to modern eyes, but watching the elves brush reindeer teeth, or paint checkerboards with checkerboard paint is charming as all get out.

Santa’s also a great part of this one! He’s jovial and jolly, cutting breaks for kids with long wish lists and doing quality control on the back end. This being a short from the 1930s, there’s some unfortunate racial stereotypes here and there, which dampens the proceedings a bit. But the musical march of the various toys and elves along the score, still makes this a yuletide winner.
