Bye Jodie, thanks for everything. You didn't deserved all the hate.
This episode should have a much higher rating
I'm going to miss Jodie as The Doctor!
Fantastic Episode. Perfect acting from the Master. THE ENDING JUST WOW DAVID TENNANT!!!
Good special! Loved it, gonna miss Jodie tho :(
My only question would be.. How did Graham end up in the volcano place with the Daleks to begin with LMAO!
I want some of whatever the people giving this mess 10s and 8s are smoking. As someone that stopped watching Jodie's run after Demons of the Punjab, I wanted to watch this episode to close out a tumultuous era and welcome the next doctor. I though this episode may change my mind about having stopped watching and make me go back and watch. But no, not only was this one of the messiest episodes of Doctor Who I've ever watched but maybe TV in general. Complete utter chaos with no reasons behind anything that was happening, all to have The Doctor get lasered in the end. Why was the Master in Russia in 1916? Why did the Master want to take over The Doctor's body? What was the reason behind the Dalek/Cyberman/Master alliance? Why did the Daleks want to destroy the world? Why even have Dan in this episode at all? and I can keep going but I'm not in the mood to write 2000 words. I guess this was just Chris Chibnall being Chris Chibnall. Was it cool to see old companions and Doctors? Sure. Was the AI doctor a cool trick to have the old companions interact with their Doctors? Sure. But sprinkling some (at times) clever nostalgia in your shit sandwich isn't good writing.
The thing that pains me the most is that this whole era cemented the idea of a female doctor being bad in the minds of all of the idiots that were chirping about how that was a bad idea back in 2017. Something that should have been innocuous is now a sign of doom for many people. I will never forgive Chris Chibnall for how dirty he did Jodie and Co. because I really wanted this era to succeed, the options were limitless with a first like a female doctor but somehow he managed to make all of the worst decisions torpedoing the show and triggering the BBC into desperately bringing back David Tennant and RTD to de-fibrillate this franchise. Good riddance to that hack that couldn't even give Jodie a decent farewell monologue or a sendoff worth the time she wasted acting out all of these shit scripts.
Also the clothes changing with the regeneration? Gimme a break.
I wasn't a huge fan of Jodie's run - even though I thought she was a wonderful Doctor and quickly made the role her own - but I'm very glad that she got a goodbye that was fun and filled with a lot of special moments, this was a very enjoyable episode. I told my friend - who I watched the episode with - that my only hope for the ending was that they did something worthy of her presence, and I'd 100% say that it was.
I think what I loved the most was how simple the references to prior Doctors/companions were. Usually I feel they have to come up with some sort of gimmick to explain in the plot why other Doctors are appearing and that in itself is part of the main plot - as we've seen with previous specials - but between that "consciousness plane" and then the AI, I was impressed and thought it was a smart and convenient way of giving us those surprises, especially allowing the Doctors interact with Tegan and Ace without it feeling convoluted in any way. (And by the way, Tegan and Ace were amazing!)
I also REALLY love the idea of the support group at the end. Usually endings are a lot more dramatic, but having the brief scenes of the group mixed with the beginning of the Doctor's regeneration was a fantastic idea in my opinion - again, very simple, but very special too.
If I had to nitpick, I'd say my least favorite thing about the entire episode was Ryan's conspicuous absence. Him not being there in any shape or form (not even some type of archive footage) felt like a disservice to the Doctor. Have we ever had a main companion not appear whatsoever? I haven't kept up with news, so don't know if there's a huge reason why he didn't appear - I'm chalking it up to something in the production of course. (But the writing could have been much better at accommodating that, it was one throwaway line.) Also, Dan leaving in the beginning and returning at the very end was a little weird also.
And finally... just a round of applause for Sacha Dhawan, he absolutely killed it as the Master - he might be my favorite Master after this episode. I just love being able to see how much fun an actor is having as a character, and you can 100% see that in everything he did. I'd love if Jodie and him returned at some point!
You know what, it was good. Still had all the major problems of the Chibnall era (over-exposition, those horrendous location tags etc) but the majority of the story at least flowed well and made some sense. Anywho, on to the future and now that is exciting.
Finally! Bring on Tennant, and then Ncuti Gatwa.
Terrible episode and possibly the 2nd worst of all time (inc that I have seen from classic who) Some very exciting moments which really mean nothing. You may get to the end feeling the excitement but think about it for a minute and you will realize how paper thin the writing and characters were.Turn off your brain ad enjoy stuff but you probably won't want to watch again. Chibnalls writing is too sloppy for my Tates with artificial tension and techno jaargon solutions and it iss such a pity from someone who was a fan.
plenty of 'memberberries but previous writer's have got so much more out of much less.
Once again I feel we lost something special by not seeing more of Paul Mcgan onscreen. He may have been my doctor. The twist at the end indicates to me how far this show has fallen that they need to take the step they have.
I said it before, and I'll say it again, Jodie absolutely deserved one more season. Her time on DW was cut short by reducing the number of the episodes and it's unfair. But, at least they gave her a heartfelt finale. That regeneration scene really hit me hard. I'm sad to see her leave, but still excited for Tennant.
Farewell Thirteen, I will miss you dearly.
P.S. Why did the new Doctor regenerate into new clothes? That was so odd.
The clothes now regenerate too?!?
Jodie, death by Chibnal, you deserved better. 14th Doctor, David Tenant, let it be true
"Wot? ...
... Wot? ....
................
... Wot?"
Sad it's only temporary but: Wooooh!
This was an alright send off... bittersweet... but it's never really goodbye, is it. So, until next time, Jodie.
DING DONG THE WITCH IS DEAD!
A proper regeneration story for Jodie’s take on the character. The Master, Daleks and Cyber-Masters are back. Just as some old (and oldest) friends! Amazing. Doctor-whoever-I’m-about-to-be, tag. You’re it!
A truly great episode, not even including how fantastic the Master was.
Shame Chibnall seems to have waited until his very last episode to put the effort into writing something good.
Have to admit I've really enjoyed my bingefest over the last week where I've managed to watch 3 series and 5 specials!!! I loved the episode and the Rasputin dance made me laugh - such a fantastic actor Sacha. Found a few parts really emotional.
Yes! The best doctor is back!
Why are the new specials not listed?
6 days left until the new season!
Upon a rewatch, I still like this episode but it was definitely more exciting when THAT return was still a rumour.
I mainly loved seeing the old companions and doctors back and their interactions. The story itself was good but not peak Doctor Who either.
I'm ready for a new renaissance of Doctor Who!!!
This was Jodie's best performance and what an ending! My fav doctor is back :)
Good evening..., Due to the previous commitment of shooting a feature concerning the IRL adventures of a previously plasticized plaything, the originally scheduled role of Time Lord for three episodes, will be helmed by the keeper of familiar teeth and former 10th as well as apparently the 14th Doctor, also to be joined by forgetful former companion and past lottery winner Donna Temple-Noble. Thank you for you patience and understanding concerning this matter...., BBC Management
I was expecting a new doctor then I saw David Tennant! 10/10! Total twist!
Given the Chibnall of it all, it was an ok send-off. I wasn't expecting to tear up but regenerations tend to be emotional. I wish Jodie's era had better showrunners so Thirteen could really spread her wings but Jodie was brilliant in what she was given.
Firstly, can someone explain the change of clothes with the regenerations now? Bc WTH?! But it was really good to see Tennant and Ten again. Enjoyed parts of Sacha's Master performance. Didn't understand the comings, goings, or lack of some of Thirteen's companions. Was good to see Vinder again but he felt underused. Again, because Chibnall-ness reasons, there was not enough of The Doctor despite the episode having many past doctors come in. The episode was good fan service for classic Whovians and had callbacks for some new era Who as well. I did like how Ace and Tegan were able to interact with their Doctors again. Almost expected to see Graham and Ace instead of Dan and Graham at the end. But the support group was nice.

not a bad episode. I was kinda surprised that of all the flashbacks of old doctors there was never John, Matt, David or Peter among them.. only the classics.
The final appearance of Jodie Whittaker's Thirteenth Doctor ends with a bang. Before that, however, this last special of the Chris Chibnall era is plagued by the same problems as the seasons and specials before it. Scenes are more or less strung together incoherently. As expected, the Daleks and the Cybermen appear. What is their plan? No idea. I really couldn't follow the plot for long stretches of time because it was incomprehensible nonsense. Sacha Dhawan also makes a comeback as the Master and overacts his ass off. I already didn't like his first few appearances, but he is even worse here. Regarding the companions, I can't say much. Yaz hasn't had much character development in her entire time aboard the Tardis, which continues here. And should there be fans of Dan, they will be bitterly disappointed by "The Power of the Doctor".
I've always liked Whittaker herself in the lead role. She's good in her swan song, too. Unfortunately, she is often taken out of the plot for long stretches of time. Instead, you get numerous cameos, which I personally didn't all get. But fans of the old "Doctor Who" will most certainly be happy. The special gets better in the last half hour. The farewell to the Thirteenth Doctor is then even somewhat emotional. Nevertheless, the return of Russell T. Davies as showrunner comes at just the right time.
Surprisingly good taking into account that the previous 13th Doctor specials were horrible.
It's funny that this special is full of fan service and I don't know anyone of the "old era".
Really, really liked it and the ending got me with my mouth open for a minute. What an episode.

It was simply great, a great send out episode, you got a worthy episode of you.
I didn't love the writing of your run, but I'm sure as hell I'm going to miss you Jodie.
