Great set-up albeit a bit slow, but if it builds up to a good story I'm all for it, love the setting.
One of the sharpest written and performed episodes of the original run, following that great cliffhanger with a sudden time jump to our heroes having settled into an environment for weeks, enjoying their break from constant misadventures, with the Doctor antsily deciding to wander off in the hopes of encountering mischief. The scenes of Ian and Barbara just getting to chill and enjoy some time alone together are absolutely magnetic, leaning into their romantic chemistry while still letting them be casual and charming. And it's masterfully contrasted against the brutality of the slave traders whose cruelty is equally casual as they invade the idyllic paradise with their greed.

i liked the humor in this episode, a lot of fun banter amongst the gang. honestly wouldnt mind just watching these guys hang out in rome with zero conflict.
