Of course, Carter had become one of the few likable characters so some piece of shit Hollywood hack who couldn't put together a decent script decided to go for some senseless and braindead drama.
Now I'm sure we're going to have to suffer through a bunch of episodes with Carter whining, having psych problems and/or getting addicted to drugs.
In other words the usual unintelligent Hollywood crap.
Lucy I won't miss much if she disappear though.
