Fargo: Season 4

4x04 The Pretend War

"The Pretend War" is another bad episode of Fargo. While it feels the plot is picking up ever so slightly, this is still an uninteresting and trite season so far, with poor acting and overlong scenes to boot. Also, why would Oraetta allow Ethelrida to clean up her house, given she's a serial killer who keeps a collection of her crimes? Highly contrived for the sake of advancing the plot, in my opinion. Chris Rock continues his jarring performance, making me wonder how anyone involved thought he'd work for this type of story. Don't even get me started on Salvatore Esposito.

Overall, another low-quality episode.

This season is a far cry from previous seasons. Very weak.

This goes slowly and predictably. Thanks god for the speed-up option, saves some time. I decided to catch for season 5, since it seems to be great (and I want to see John Hamm in a new role), but this is really annoying. Chris Rock isn't the worst thing about it though. The lazy writing and lack of spark - that's what takes it out.
