I knew he was leaving, but I thought he'd ride out with Sarah. I guess this way there's no room for speculation on whether he comes back if he decides that he wants to return in the future. That kind of ambiguity often has an itch that is oh-so tempting for many actors to make unwanted returns to their role, and has made for awkwardness.

Well, it was just a question of time when McMahon is going to leave the show after everyone of the LaCroix family has already left. It was well done, quite out of the blue.
