A nice, (relatively) simple love story with that science fiction flavor, and no gross aspects that Fringe usually tries to shove in. I like it. But, there are some holes...
- Why was he convinced that he would finish the device and they'd move? It clearly only worked in a small area. The wife wasn't in another area/house in 2007, so how would that have worked?
- How exactly did he know that no one can cross the threshold of the time travel effect? It was established that he didn't actually know the full extent of the equation, he was just copying it. So why would he know something like that?
- Why does turning off the machine less than a minute before it would've turned itself off stop the tunnel from disappearing? That doesn't make any sense. The effect was going to end regardless, and they barely beat the timer. Feels like that's within the window of not mattering.
- There's zero chance those teenagers would stop to report what they saw to the authorities, and much less stick around for what is probably over 12 hours. Nuh uh. Not happening.
Also, why is there a modern TV in Walter's house if he doesn't live there, and hasn't lived there for over 17 years? We theorized that it could've been furnished in anticipation of him living there when they checked him out of the mental hospital, but that's unlikely.
I can't decide whether I think Peter doesn't understand what being erased entails or if he's putting on a brave face and trying to go with that version as if there was an alternate reality with two worlds interconnected, much like this one, but where people remembered him.
Stephen Root and Romy Rosemont absolutely steal the show every moment they're on-screen together here. Call it schmaltz or Pollyanna if you can't bring yourself to recognize it for what it's meant to represent: true love. Yes, his for her is of a simpler variety than hers for him, but two things need not be perfectly identical to be equally strong and well-matched.
Aw man pure love right there

It's easier for Peter to believe that there's another world with his Olivia and his Walter in it, with them waiting and caring and thinking about him, then it is to face the reality of erasure. Especially when it took him forever to get Olivia to let down her guard. But Olivia is amazing. She makes my my top ten list when it comes to favorite badass female characters on television every time.
