A very disappointing season.
On one hand side it's like trying to fast forward through over 10 years of history to catch up with current times.
On the other hand it chooses themes that we've already seen on other shows that have not been cancelled for over 10 years and are already bored with.
No one wants to live through yet another pandemic (although one or more will happen sooner or later). Everybody knows how Amazon is a bad company that you can virtually not move away from due to an evergrowing lack of alternatives while the service of Amazon itselfs starts to suck. Barely anyone cares about Kiff and Amy's kids (even though Fry was great with them). Binging is bad yet today's media (especially Netflix) conditioned us to do so by churning out massive amounts of content to keep that monthly fee coming. Episode 9 being a lowpoint for this season and probably the entire show as well.
I read a comment somewhere claiming this turned into an ensemble cast and I agree. There are barely any Fry-Bender-Leela only delivery shenanigans (Ep 5 and 8). It's always back to ensemble as fast as possible. It's like I am watching a bad Community-esque cartoon. It's all over the place.
I was looking forward to this new season but as it is, the stories and writing in general has been severely subpar.
Not that every season was great before this one or that I am blinded by nostalgia, there have been many bad episodes, but now Futurama just lacks any bite to it.
Maybe it's out of touch with modern times, maybe modern times just moved on from Futurama...
I’m loving how this season (so far) has been about continuing the show by also bringing nostalgia to old fans (like me). Usual Futurama style, applied to 2023 era :ok_hand:
I couldn’t expect better as a third ‘reboot’, but I’m curious to see how the show will develop in future seasons (hopping it won’t get cancelled in the next 3/4 years…).
This was very forgettable. If this is what we can expect from this show going forward, it would have been better to not have revived it. Feels like this season brings down the rating for the show as a whole.
Should have stayed cancelled. The new season is not up to the quality of the previous seasons.
Lots of bad reviews here but I have enjoyed this season. Lots of callbacks to early seasons, and the mid-season finale was just fantastic. I have enjoyed watching this more than I did seasons 6/7 but based on the reviews I might be in the minority.
Mid af, should have stayed cancelled.
So, is this season 8 or season 11?
those mfs really fucked it up in this one
