Runtime for this episode will be 69 minutes—which makes it the longest episode in the entire series. I cannot wait.

For people confused at vary's teleporting skills. The justification lies in the last scene where daenarys fleet consist of banners from house dorne and tyrells which means a considerable amount of time is passed since their sail and they are backing her full power.
It was so fucking satisfying to see Walder Frey get what was coming to him. Sweet revenge.
Awesome finale. The music alone was beyond superb but the events/plot! Wow. So many butt-kicking moments. Very excited for season 7.
[8.6/10] Game of Thrones, as a series, is always going to exist in the shadow of The Red Wedding. More than Ned’s beheading, more than Joffrey’s demise, more than the battles of Blackwater Bay or The Wall or Hardhome or The Bastards, it is the event that defined this show in the popular consciousness. For a long time, it felt like everything up to that point was building to that moment, and everything that came after was a consequence of it. The third season of this show was a focal point, with that mortal bit of matrimony at its center.
Season 6 of the series has felt more like a sequel to that one than the extension of the work that the show did in Seasons 4 and 5. It is the season of resurrection, one where we’ve witnessed the returns (and often demises) of those we knew long ago: The Brothers Without Banners, The Blackfish, Osha and Rickon, Benjen, Walder Frey, and more. Whether it’s the freedom of no longer being constrained by George R.R. Martin’s novels, or the knowledge that the end is nigh, Game of Thrones spent much of its sixth year tying off loose ends, often in typically lethal fashion.
That culminates in “The Winds of Winter” a season finale of beginnings and endings. It is the close of one epoch of the show, one that spun out from that Red Wedding and scattered our heroes across oceans, as more and more characters were introduced. All the monarchs of the War of the Five Kings are dead. Winter is here, but now the future is coming.
Before it can though, the last of the old guard must be washed away. The wildfire of the Sept of Balon does not match The Red Wedding for shock value, but it is still one of the show’s most superlative sequences. There is something slow and measured about it. It unspools over twenty minutes, and never feels rushed, lingering on the impending horror.
It’s one of the series’ most beautifully shot and edited sequences as well. It’s a series of contrasts: the light, meticulous braiding of Margaery’s hair and dress, the soot black finery of Cersei as she prepares for darkness, the sleeve of the High Sparrow and that of the King, spliced together at opposite angle. Adherents file into the Sept in symmetry, Grand Maester Pycelle is led into darkness below, Lancel Lannister follows a little bird into the catacombs below where lucid green liquid pools and portends beneath those who stand opposed.
It is not The Red Wedding. It is the end of The Godfather, the final attempt by the individual attempting to maintain her family’s power and position in the face of those who would take it in one fell swoop. The burst of neon flame takes with it the daughter-in-law who threatened to replace her, the zealot who humiliated her, the relations that turned on her. This is her moment, her last move to triumph, the willingness to leave the enemies bathed in fire like The Mad King once did.
It is to be a cleansing fire, one that clears away the brush that has stood in Cersei’s way and clears a path to the end of all these machinations and threats. She taunts the erstwhile nun who tortured her and sees that the favor is returned. This is her moment of glory, her revenge, her ultimate victory.
But everything in Westeros comes at a price. For all that may be said about Tommen, his suggestibility, his weak will, his propensity to be manipulated, he is a young man who felt the weight of that crown, who never seemed comfortable carrying it. When he sees that smoking crater, smells the stench of the lives lost under his watch, the sensitive young man can take it no more. His end is swift, balletic as he plummets from his vantage point. Cersei has what she wanted. The throne is hers. But as the witch prophesied, it has cost her the things in her life she loved most.
But it is the end of the last external threat, the last separate obstacle the show threw in its characters’ paths until the main figures of this story were set to collide. The Sparrow is no more. The young Tyrells are gone for. The Baratheons have fallen. Ramsey is dogfood. Slaver’s Bay is settled. The Freys are derided and neutered. The Three-Eyed raven has died and lives again. All that is left is to settle the great game once and for all.
In one corner is Cersei. When Jamie returns from the Freys, he sees his lover sitting on the throne, wearing clothes of mourning and of battle. Gone is the woman who smiled in victory in the flaming perdition she unleashed upon her tormentors; gone is the woman who crumbled almost imperceptibly to see her last child with each ounce of life stricken from him. In their place is a dark-visaged queen with a ten-thousand yard stare, one with nothing more that can be taken from her. All she has now is the throne, and a heart that’s been bled dry drop by drop.
On another shore is Daenerys Stormborn. She sets sail with painted ships and her dragons overhead. But she doesn’t not travel with Daario, knowing the opportunity cost of bringing a lover to the Seven Kingdoms when political marriages are expedient. Instead, she travels with Grey Worm and Missandei, she travels with Theon and Yara, she travels with Spider (who apparently knows how to book it from Dorne). And she travels with Tyrion Lannister.
The moment she and Tyrion share is one of those that points the series toward its endgame. After traveling the Dothraki Sea, after being stranded in Qarth, after what seems like an interminable amount of time learning to rule Dragons (née Slavers) Bay, she is finally setting on the path to retake Westeros. It is scary, and she confides her anxiousness to Tyrion. Tyrion affirms her, the way she cuts through his cynicism, and validates her unease at the grave and great task that lay before her. In return, she makes him the hand of the queen. It’s a meaningful gesture, after Tyrion gave his all to defend King’s Landing and was branded an outcast and traitor for it. For once, the things he can do, the gifts he can offer, are valued and have placed him at the side of a champion.
But in the way of that champion sits the man we learn is, thanks to the Three-Eyed Raven, Daenerys’s nephew. Jon Snow is not the child of Ned Stark and an unknown mother, but of Lyanna Stark and Rhaegar Targaryen. The cut between the face of the child in Bran’s visit to the past and Jon Standing before the great houses of Winterfell confirms the connection between those who may rule.
But Jon is not alone. He and Sansa have retaken The North and the lords and the Free Folk have pledged fealty to the White Wolf, the new King in the North (thanks to the irrepressible fireplug known as Lady Mormont). The Starks have been prepared for this moment from the beginning. The two of them have fought and suffered for this moment. Jon is uneasy in his father’s chair. Sansa has been through enough not to fall for Littlefinger’s pleasantries and manipulations. This is as much denouement from The Battle of the Bastards as it is a moment in its own right, but it is hard not to see these two young people who have seen so much, bracing for what’s to come, in front of raised swords and cheers that the North remembers, and not think them ready for whatever lurks in a murky future.
Amid all of this, Melisandre is banished for her hand Shireen’s demise. Lady Tyrell and the Sand Snakes form an alliance brokered by the Spider. Sam stands agape at the font of knowledge where he, like Tyrion, starts to believe that maybe the talents that seemed wasted in a hard world have a place somewhere. And there still lurks The Night King beyond the wall, the real battle that threatens to overtake any contest for the Iron Throne.
For once, Game of Thrones seems to narrow. While there will no doubt be more detours along the way, more unexpected turns and daggers in the back and marauders at the gates, the days of expanding this world are over. The Red Wedding is past. Its victims and perpetrators now a part of the same scorched earth. Too many have fallen since then. Those who survive now face the series’ end. The witch’s prediction comes to fruition; the Khaleesi sets sail for Westeros, and a pair of Starks preside over Winterfell once more.
After years of promises, seasons of teases, episodes and episodes of a telescoping world, winter has come; the board is set, and the last chapter of this story, the climax of it all, is about to begin.
This episode was not bad, BUT..it continued a recently developed trend of not believable circumstances. I suspect the writers are trying to create a lot of drama for the season end and are loosing (even so slightly) sight of what made the books and the series so loved. The cynic unforgiving realism of circumstances (even within a fanstasy/magical world). If you saw my comment for the previous episode I was in the same line. So here it is, the moments that bothered my square logic and took something away:
Moments I enjoyed:
Moments I didn't enjoy but I found realistic even though unexpected:
1. Tomen committing suicide (don't underestimate teenagers in heat ...for margery in this case)
2. Cersei taking the throne. Loosing all her children, all that she has is her evil drive for power. I expect her to make season 7 even more interesting
3. Is Sansa and little finger are going to cook something? Sansa showed us a bit of a character in the last few episodes that is very remote from a sensitive, good side of her. Do we have a cersei in the making? She has been traumatised enough.
Overall 7/10
Best episode of the season was No 5
This is the longest episode of Game of Thrones and it's the best one in my opinion.
Aria's scene was a huge shock for me.
Maggy: Oh, aye. Six-and-ten for him, and three for you. Gold shall be their crowns and gold their shrouds, she said. And when your tears have drowned you, the valonqar shall wrap his hands about your pale white throat and choke the life from you.
Only thing I am sad about this episode is the whore who fucked the maestor didn’t get the money.
Some crazy reveals. Totally surprised by the Jon Snow reveal. That makes him Targaryen not Stark- which was the basis everyone pledged their allegiance as the King of the North. I also thought the tension between Davos and Melisandre was pretty intense though the resolution a bit disappointing.
I don't really know what to say about Cersei about blowing the Church with everyone in it. We knew it was coming and I think really the only scary thing is what is she gonna do?? She's lost all her children. She's ruthless and cunning. She's got nothing to lose now and can potentially be the next mad Queen.
Seeing Daenerys finally sail with her dragons, Dothraki and the Unsullied was a long time coming. Can't wait to see how that plays out.
Also I'm very sad that Margaery was blown to smithereens.
Winter is here!!
Jon Snow is not a bastard!!!
Ned never cheat Catherine!!!
The "King" is the dead!!!
Cerci thinks she's the queen. (Crazy bitch)
Jon is the "King of the north"!!!!
Khalessi is coming with everything and everyone!!!
This was as choking as awesome season finale.
The best hour of TV I have ever seen. Even leaving aside the plot, the way this episode was filmed and scored is more cinematic than anything I have yet seen on TV and a MASSIVE step up for an already fantastic show. All that tension that was build up from the score, the long moody shots that most TV shows seem scared of... I doubt they will beat this.
I laughed so much when Tommen decided to throw himself out of the window
I have no words... nothing to say!
Just one thing: episode 7x01 shall be epic to keep the show level and expectations
Wondering why this episode felt so quick? Give it a rewatch to look at how seamless and logical each transition between scenes was. You won't be disappointed.
For me this episode, The Battle of the Bastards and Hardhome were the best of the bests episodes. There was only one fail I noticed... why is Lorde Varys in Dorne in the middle of the episode and at the end he's in the ship with Daenerys? lol
Walder: [Breathing heavily] "What?"
Arya Stark: [Removes disguise] "My name is Arya Stark. I want you to know that. The last thing you're ever going to see is a Stark smiling down at you as you die."
still watching this episode, again and again, if the song is not light of seven, that scene would be so much more impressive? idts.
WHAT THE F@CK TOMMEN
i shouldn’t even be surprised
A pure cinema episode as much as the previous one. This sequence involving the Great Sept, the soundtrack, all the tension involved... Masterpiece. As I mentioned before, I feel NOTHING for Cersei other than profound contempt and hatred. But her move to kill the High Sparrow and the militants was too surprising and too clever. I'm just sorry that Margaery and Loras died there, they did not deserve such a fate.
Arya's journey this season ending with her crossing out another name on her vengeance list. The scene in which she ends Walder Frey's life is so satisfying. Justice for Robb and Catelyn, finally.
This season is too incredible. Third time I watch it and I only get to like it even more.
A nice season finale, lots of very emotional events but Lyanna Mormont steals the show again :) I was really a great scene to watch how she motivates all other lords to swear their allegiance to Jon. The last meeting of Ned and Lyanna turned out to be rather moving too. And for a person who is quite a bibliophile, Sam's visit to the library at Oldtown was quite an impressive take.
they are rushing it so much
the revenge against Walder Frey which should have been an great story arc but has been rushed down into a 5 min scene where we are expected to believe that she killed all of his sons without anyone noticing (i know Arya's a badass but shes not a magician)
PS Wildfire is not dynamite
YASSSSSSSS NOW THIS IS WHAT I CALL GAME OF THRONES
WINTER IS HERE
R + L = J
ALSO, THANK YOU LORD FOR ALL THE BADASS FEMALE CHARACTERS
SEASON 7: WE ARE READY FOR YOU
Don't fuck with Cersei Lannister
This Mormont girl should get more screen time becouse she is the brightest point of this rather fair season.
WHAT A FINALE. THAT'S WHAT GOOD STORY TELLING DOES TO YOU. HOLY SHIT
I'm so glad they ended the King's Landing plot instead of dragging it out next season. I really hate Cercei. That grin made me want to crush her head. Keep grinning while you still can Cercei, the Targareyan army and the dragons are coming.
Was sad to Margery die although I can understand why she had to. She really didn't have a particular purpose.
Finally it's confirmed R+L=J That scene with Ned and Lyanna was great. "Promise me Ned. Promise me" That was done beautifully.
The stuff at Winterfell was great. Shoutout to Lady Mourmont. What an amazing character. That scene where all the lords where shouting "The King in the North" Holy shit, that was beautiful. I legit teared up. Heck, I was even chanting along xD Jon Stargareyan= The True King in the North and beyond.
THE KING IN THE NORTH. THE KING IN THE NORTH. THE KING IN THE NORTH
Arya, my favorite character getting her revenge. A dish served cold indeed. If any of you knew that was Arya you are straight up lying. Didn't expect that at all :P Psychopath Arya is the best xD
And if that didn't make that episode awesome the last sequence will surely do. Danny and her forces invading Westeros. Oh how I've waited for this moment.
Loved this episode. A perfect 10/10
Sad to see the season finish. Excited for next season but disappointed it's gonna be only 7 episodes. Until next season folks :D
Why the hell does this episode have an 87% rating if it hasn't aired yet?
Lady Mormont straight up beastin. Give her the throne. She doesn't even need dragons. 62 men and sass for days. It's not even close who the real MVP was in this episode. Gosh, she could even run for president. House Mormont, I pledge my sword to thee!
All Hail Queen Cercei
Jon gonna smash Cersei from the North while Daenerys smashes her from the South. Can't wait ahahaha!! Starks and Targaryens unite!
nail-biting' end to season..... go go go Stark Family <3
This episode stands out in its production quality in a way that directly contrasts the epic battle of the previous one. We've seen Game of Thrones do big battle scenes many times before, but we haven't seen it do warm, majestic vistas like this. GoT is full of grey, brown desolate plains and villages but in this episode everything seems so much brighter and ornate. From the opening shot of King's Landing to the icy forest and the huge library, this episode is pure eye candy. The cinematography follow suit with lots of intentional symmetry and other eye-catching tricks in the camera framing. On top of all that is a soundtrack that sounds like nothing else the show has done before and makes key moments in thee episode all the more special. I appreciate that GoT is going into its final season not with the blood and explosions of previous seasons but instead a quiet majesty that hints at a final season that will contain much more magical elements and mysteries unfolded.
My biggest gripe or concern with this episode is that it doesn't leave us with a good villain. Cersei hasn't done much lately for us to hate her, in fact it felt pretty good seeing her torture the nun. The white walkers are the main threat but they are a boring one and the final season is going to have to do a lot to make them a compelling threat with Hardhome being buried in the past. Then there are all the open threads that seem too small to care about. If we have these massive conflicts ahead with Littlefinger, Snow, Cersei and the dragons, I don't want episodes being distracted with the guy hunting the Greyjoys, the Hound or Arya. Okay, I want more Arya but I'm still not sure how that fits in when the main focus becomes epic warfare. Let's all hope that by one last season they split it into two giant halfs like Breaking Bad or Mad Men.
More than ever, this episode made me feel that GoT's closure is coming up and I'm not sure I'm emotionally ready for that!
I loved how this episode was all about repeated history with a twist
Pros
+Cersei doing her best impression of the Mad King
+Jaime being forcibly compared to the Freys as Kingslayers with the beautifully written line where Walder Frey says he loves that people hate him and Jaime clearly despises it. Also Jaime looking on during Cersei's coronation and just being absolutely horrified was an excellent moment
+Jon doing his impression of Rob
+Sam gets to Oldtown and it is a city I have been waiting to see and it looks beautiful It is going to make for a wonderful contrast when the Ironborn assault takes place and this pillar of scholarly learning is trashed I like how they mention that the leadership in the Night's Watch has changed drastically, clearly a point emphasizing the changes that happen throughout this episode
+Bran seeing the rest of the Tower of Joy and saying goodbye to Benjen
Neutral
*Arya killing the Freys after feeding him the pie was okay. Not as satisfying as Manderly doing it, while having the musicians play a song about it over and over, and hooting and hollering before probably betraying them in the 1st Battle of Winterfell. It'll be interesting to see who she goes after in the future but there really isn't a whole lot of things that impressed me about this. Again cool that it's a twist on the Red Wedding with Walder as the victim when he least expected it.
Cons
-Dorne apparently is now run by the fucking idiots who kinslayed the former prince and his son for literally no reason and the dumb fucks have a typical conversation with Olenna Tyrell where she talks shit about them and then they convince her to join the Dany camp
-Littlefinger talks with Sansa about wanting to bang her and then pouts for the rest of the episode because she turns him down
-Dany's weird breakup where she gives the dude Slavers Bay as compensation for being a good fuck and killing some people for money
Great episode, satisfying ending. All hail the new King of the North and the marauding dragon queen! 9/10 for me.....
Arya Stark, what a great scene... Loved it :)
I want to write a review but I feel like my brain can't form sentences right now. This season's writing felt kind of weak for the most part, making new stuff up is certainly harder than adapting something and it showed, but these last two episodes... maaaaan the best. This one in particular... loved it. Absolutely loved it. No filler moments, just non-stop pay off that leaves you with the desperate need of a cigarette. So many great revenge scenes. Yeah the dialogues and plots seemed smarter in the seasons that were mostly following the books, but Martin was hellbound on making guys we root for suffer and die and stupid cunts win and triumph again and again, but that's also why it's so refreshing and beautiful and actually believable (because it's diversity) to see good guys win and some retribution finally being served.
I forgave the writers for butchering Arya's storyline and I thought it would take a lot of time and work for me to do that. Her killing Frey was fucking beautiful. Not gonna lie, I got a sick rush from that scene. Which is kind of a tradition with this show tbh. But anyway can't wait for her to join her siblings. She's obviously a teleporter like Baelish and Varys are.
And fuck I totally predicted the wild fire thing but when it finally happened and the buildings were blown to kingdom come it still somehow shocked me. It was amazing but I'm bummed about Margery dying ngl. I didn't even know I liked her that much until she was gone. Maybe she had magic boobs. I mean Tommen saw them and then couldn't live without them. Poor guy. And while Cercei fucked up by driving him to suicide (and not putting someone to guard him for fuck's sake) and he was the only thing that truly mattered to her, I still got kicks out of her victory. Probably has a lot to do with someone finally destroying the sparrow fucks. Never been a fan of Cercei but that was badass and also long time coming. I'd totally be in her camp if not for other powerhouses out there. Winter is here but the dragons are coming. I'm all for that in the next season. Can't fucking believe that Dany finally moved towards Westeros. We've been literally waiting years for that. Hoping for her to go all Mad Queen (the signs are there), would be interesting.
But obviously the best thing ever is finally getting that R+L=J confirmation. I've been aware of that theory for some time now and once we were shown those flashbacks of Leanna (especially the one where she's screaming in that fucking tower like she's totally not giving birth), so 99% of me knew it's going to happen, but when it actually did I still freaked the fuck out and was so happy I nearly hyperventilated. Jon fucking Targaryen. Can't wait for him to fuck his aunt. I mean... to ride a dragon. Is that still an euphemism?.. Ahem. The King in the North!..
Everyone was wearing black this episode. Just putting it out there.
Update: Okay after some digesting of the episode I think Cercei left Tommen unattended on purpose. He betrayed her by siding with the faith and practically doomer her to death by forbidding the trial by combat. She thought about everything and took care of all of her enemies, she did not just forget about him. And that's why she wasn't particularly moved by the sight of his dead body. He was dead to her the second he betrayed her.
This means that Cersei will have to die.
One hell of an episode! So much action, so much emotions, so much! I loved it!
i legit have no words for this ep, i had goose bumps. amazing
Most beautiful episode ever made on the show.
Holy shit man. What an episode.
Best season finale of the series.
Winter is here. For me by far the best episode to date! Thrilling and full of surprises! Can't wait for the next season.
The best final season of the series and one of the best episodes of the series
It was a good finale and the soundtrack was great, but I'm not as thrilled about it as everyone else I guess?! I mean the best part about this episode was the beginning... though I'm very sad about Margaery.
THE KING IN THE NORTH !!
Best episode of the entire series! I haven't smiled so much watching something.. ever.
I really didn't thought it was gonna better after last weeks episode, battle of the bastards.
Damn it, cant believe its over already :|
omg. omg. omg. I need the book now!!! arya and jon targaryen ehem snow revelations were good, kinda felt bad that margaery died maybe because she's so pretty, but I wasn't even shocked tommen died. loved the scene with lady mormont. i'm expecting next season will be better tho.

R+L=J IS FUCKING CANON! AND SINCE TARGARYENS ONLY DO INCESTUOUS MARRIAGES TO KEEP THE BLOOD SUPER PURE™ YALL CAN HOPE FOR DANY AND JON RULING TOGETHER
Best episode from a tv show I ever watched. 10 OUT OF FUCKING 10.
Awesome finale. Man the wait will kill me. One year to see the next season lol. I'm excited to see everyone's reaction especially Dany when they learn Jon is a targaryen also and how the dragons will react to him. Would have preferred they still included Griff from the book who happened to be first heir of rhaegar and Ella in the story but Jon snow and Dany will have to do lol. Btw how did Varys get to Dorne and Danys ship so quickly? Lola's
One of the best episodes of the series!!
Game of Thrones is great again. Thank you.
Best episode of the season, by a large margin (yes, episode 9 was great too, but another kind of great).
My only problem continues to be with Daenerys' arc, the dialogues always felt too cheesy... But I hope this will no longer be a problem once her story is "incorporated" in Westeros.
And Arya killing Walder was just as satisfying as Ramsay's death, in my point of view.
One of best episodes of this show !
Wow...this was just absolutely amazing. Between this episode and the last episode, this season totally went out with a bang. I wasn't disappointed at all. Some earlier episodes this season felt kind of off, but these last two totally made up for it. I can't wait till next season.
The best season ever? I think so.
Varys acquired special art of bilocation - Dorne and Meereen :D
WOW what an episode ,it's really the best one ever,Jon snow is not a bastard after all.
This episode was bonkers. Loved it from start to finish. My only complaint would be the travel time of certain characters.
I thought this was a great finale. So excited for next season.
After the red wedding I will vote with another 10 excellent season finale, the sublime music, impeccable clothes.
R+L=J
Can't wait to see this!
Episode is called The Winds of Winter http://www.hbo.com/search?type=schedule&seriesIds=PMRS1663&q=Game%20of%20Thrones
“I loved that girl like she was my own, she was good, she was kind and you KILLED HER” :sob::sob::sob::sob: “The only way for what, they all died anyway” Liam Cunningham/Sir Davos was the goat in this show
This felt more like a mid-season episode than one to end it.
Not kidding, I’ve just finished the series and this is my favourite episode by far. It’s just brilliant.
I used to think this show didn't deserve the praise it had gotten. That's until I finished these last few seasons. I love it. Jon Snow is hands down my favorite character.
The most satisfying season finale! King in the north!
This series finale was probably the best episode ever to be aired in a tv show. This episode was mind-blowingly amazing - even more, words can't describe how amazingly done this series finale is.
Ohhh I know it was all about the visual and cliffhangers getting me excited... Yeah the writers played me well, but heck if this show isn't about getting excited donno what it is then.
biggest teaser for what to come, now where is S7 now. can't believe we have to wait months now. this episode had dramatic turns in every corner. Game of Thrones indeed!!
This was the best season ever!!
I loved it what a fantastic episode. But something is bothering me. Varys said goodbye to tyrion and goes to dorne but when ships sayl hes there behind Daenerys. Is it a mistake or im just stupid?
Cersei destructive bitch, your end is saved.
well I was spoiled for the big one before watching this so I wasn't too surprised, but I'm interested to see how Jon's Targaryen blood will factor into everything now. Also I love Sansa, who is nobody's fool. And I don't trust Littlefinger at all, but damn if he isn't an incredibly interesting character. And that scene between Daenerys and Tyrion where she named him Hand of the Queen, that was perfect.
Best season finale of the series.
/ WENTER IS HERE/ Game of thrones is just begin
I liked previous episode better.
Oh Cersei, what have you done?
I love how this turned into a full blown battle of the queens (and Jon), while season 1 started out as a battle of the kings. I'm happy that Cersei got her revenge, I'm happy that Jon has his support, I'm happy that Dany is on her way to fuck shit up. Season 7 is going to be an epic season. I can't wait!
Lolzzzz*. Sori for the typo on my first comment
That was like fan fiction for Game of Thrones fans
God, I'm so excited for this.

Winter came, and so did I.
