Sansa Stark is just insufferable.

Parallelism between Season 1 Episode 1 and Season 8 Episode 1
¯\_(ツ)_/¯

S03E05“ “Let’s not go back. Let’s stay here a while longer,” Ygritte tells Jon. “I don’t ever want to leave this cave, Jon Snow.” S08E01 “We could stay a thousand years. No one would find us,” Daenerys says to Jon.02.
Sam is suggesting rebelling against the Targaryen because they burned his father and brother alive. Similar to when Robert's Rebellion, began when Rhaegar Targaryen, allegedly abducted Robert's betrothed, Lyanna Stark.
Never forget who you are, the rest of the world will not. Wear it like armor, and it can NEVER be used to hurt you...
Wise words, indeed to be heeded:
Pleasurable table-setting (spoiler: not much actual table-setting or eating in the episode).
"I always had blue eyes" #genius :joy::joy:
"Waiting for an old friend".
Damn you Three-Eyed Raven!
lol I have forgotten how bad the writing was ever since they ran out of book material
Drogon looking at Jon while he was kissing Dany was PRICELESS. I LOL'ed so hard.
Tyrion: "You should consider yourself lucky, at least your balls won't freeze off."
Lord Varys: "You take great offense at dwarf jokes, but love telling eunuch jokes. Why is that?"
Tyrion: "Because I have balls, and you don't."
Ahh, I missed you, Tyrion.
Name a less iconic couple than Jon and Daenerys, I'll wait.
Their romantic storyline is purely fanservice (who asked for this, anyway?). Everything about them seems forced and their scenes are so cringey that it gives me actual physical pain to watch them. Teenagers write better fanfiction on the Internet every day. And to add insult to the injury, Kit and Emilia have the on-screen chemistry of two small rocks placed next to each other. Someone please make this stop.
Was a reasonably good episode. This was more of establishing/setting up the scene for the rest of the season. Was great to see some old acquaintances being rekindled......
I love how Jon Snow “died” in the Stark crypt.
Pros
+Various "Hello's", reintroducing everyone in the new context
+ Jon riding Rhaegal
+Golden Company Hype
+Good sense of urgency for everything going on
Cons
-Bits of awkwardness
Nothing too special was done in this episode but nothing really bad either, very safe start to the final season
You know everything Jon Snow!! For the first time!!
The new opening is exciting, beautiful, crazy.... So many feelings.
Poor Sam, it broke my heart to see him like that.
Jamie's face was priceless when he saw Bran.
So far, so good, let's see how this goes.
The look on Jaime's face when he saw Bran is priceless
Fine, but lame romance stuff.
The new opening credits gave me chills! Just the wall, WInterfell and King's Landing. I loved it!
Every single reunión was also perfect. Every single one. Jon and Arya, Arya and Gendry, Sam and Jon, Theon and his sister... Jamie and Bran The change in Jamie's facial expression when he saw Bran was sublime. Well done!
I loved how Sam didn't beat around the bushin telling Jon he's the legitimate heir to the throne. He was like SURPRISE! U the king, dude LOL
And that jump scare there at the end. Man, I knew it was coming and it still got me. Poor kid. This show is not nice to young kids.
Good episode still not great IMO. Loved the reunions
lmao the dragons also want the fun :joy::joy::joy:
What an roller-coaster of an emotional eposide!!
The dragon (magic carpet) Ride scene was hilarious and unecessary. The only thing that was missing was "a whole new world" playing in the background
[8.2/10] I liked how this was a slower season premiere, one devoted to letting us get reacquainted with this characters and this world, and to let them get reacquainted with one another, before the fireworks begin. I especially like how much this episode mirrors the series's very first episode, from the procession of royals into Winterfell, to the awkward meetings between allies who aren't exactly friends yet, to a meaningful exchange of glances between Jaime and Bran.
I also like the core of the episode, focusing on the potential romantic involvement between Jon and Dany on the one hand, and the tension between their various supporters and advisors about who should be the ruler here. It's a complicated topic with legitimate points on both sides, and the show takes both the personal and political sides of it seriously.
Otherwise, I'm very intrigued by Cersei, whether she's lost (or ever had) her baby, and the effect that will have on her going forward. John Bradley who plays Sam gives an incredible damn performance as Sam learns about his father and brother's deaths. And seeing the few major characters outside of Winterfell start to make their way there, while the White Walkers leave one more creepy-as-hell piece of art, is an exciting start to the season.
Overall, it's good to be back in Westeros, and I appreciated how many reunions, character moments, and other chances to take stock and mark how far everyone's come before the show comes to a close that we got.
Sam: "Bran, why are you out here?"
Bran: "Winterfell doesn't have any ramps."
I really like the new season cover! Not my favourite one out of all of them. But it's great nonetheless!
One hour of almost nothing.
Jon is Azor Ahai
Cersei dies in childbirth
Dany and Tyrion are related
Normally that would have been a good episode and great season opening. Lots of people coming together after a long time, everybody getting ready for the final fight we know is coming and it would be normal that nothing much happens, also the updated opening is awesome. However, given the lengt of this season, knowing that 1/6th of it has already passed feels like a waste.
Was the remake of the nuptial parade from How to train your dragon 3 with Jon and Daenerys really necessary ? I feel like we could have paid for a whole extra episode with what must have gone in it. (Though that being said, fuck these dragons look good!)
So lots of happy and less happy reunion moments, Sam learns about his family's fate, and Jon about his real family, nothing unexpected, nothing to spoil really.
Still it looks good, the obvious parrallels with episode 1 are a very nice touch, and it's nice to have it back, so... still enjoyed it.
Also if they had kept all storylines from the books, would it be when they also meet Catelyn again ?
What to dragons eat? Whatever they want. best line ever!
Everyone complained about how the eighth season was a complete departure from previous seasons. So far, I see no discernable difference. This episode would've fit well into any another season.
For the beginning of a new season, the episode was sort of lame and predictable, and some unrealistic scenes, like the Greyjoy thing, but overall good. The most interesting part was Jon Snow knowing the truth about his Targaryean heritage.
very good and good to know
Sandor Clegane "You left me to die!"
Arya: "First I robbed you."
This was a very mixed episode for me. The scenes in King's Landing were decent, the Stark reunion was good, the scene where Sam tells Jon the truth was well-done, and the scene with Tormund was great. Other things really infuriated me though. Tyrion is officially one of the dumbest characters now and I will never forgive the writers for that. I really hate Daenerys right now too and that scene with the dragons was just so dumb to me.
Jon's reunion with the Starks is always one of those moments that leave the heart very warm. Especially the scene with Arya, the smile she opens when she runs to hug him is contagious. These scenes never lose their impact, no matter how many times I watch them.
And not only was this reunion impressive, right? Bran waiting for "an old friend" and then Jamie comes to Winterfell. It was a great cliffhanger.
Tormund is very much alive!! But the Night King's message... WOW.
A nice episode with lots of Starks, and the dragon-flying sequence is always welcome ;) It was funny how Jon and Dany started kissing after flying the dragons, and one of the dragons disapproved. I think the scene with Jon flying the dragon was a little forshadowing of Sam revealing to him his real Targaryen father, since it seems that dragons do not allow other people than the Targeryens to fly them? The Sam scene was quite moving as he learns that Dany killed his father and brother, and later when he tells Jon the truth. Jon and Arya's meeting was also touching. The scene with Bronn with the prostitutes was gratuitious though.
Oh sh**! The Wall just got toasted.
I got goosebumps the entire episode!! Feel sorry for samwell
This was everything that I hoped it would be. Worth waiting two years for!
I am loving the tension and the build up in this episode. Welcome back GOT! I will damn sure miss this show when it’s over sadly.
Good start to the season, putting the pieces in place, a pity that we have to wait a week
I gave this episode 7/10 for this reasons:
1-cold meetings except the last between Jaime and Bran
2-direct speech between sam and jon about the true king
3-How Theon Greyjoy did to beat the bank's army and saved his sister so easely
Ugh, that was a lot of exposition refreshing us all on what is happening. Necessary I suppose, but not real compelling story-telling without much really happening.
Honestly, I was so pumped up for this, the episode would get a 9 from me even it was only the NEW opening theme video. So good. I watched it 7 times. The cold is advancing on the board. AND, it starts north of the wall.
I liked all the nodes to the fans:
• "What about the elephants?" when she understands there will be none "well this is disappointing". And even after a whole new scene Cersei keep up with us "I really wanted these elephants".
• Sansa wondering what do dragons even eat in the north. So Dany just says the truth "whatever they want".
• Bran telling the truth "The night king is coming we don't have time for all this" because most of the episode is reunions and talking and we only allowed to have 6. Great.
• Bran spoiled everyone episode 3 yelling at them "THE NIGHT KING HAS YOUR DRAGON AND HE COMES FOR US ALL". Well, thanks Bran for ruining us everyone's surprise.
• Dany takes Jon to a dragon joyride on the first episode calming us down it's have to be early on because "No one knows how to ride a dragon until he rides a dragon".
• Dany answers to the question "where to hold" with "where ever you can". Bad luck not enough money to pay RockStar games for some dragon balls...
• Sendor Claims that Aria is a Cold Bitch. Exactly what the fans feel. and then a smile for Gendry.
• Varys and Tyrion are not politically correct with jokes.
• The ladies having sexy time with Bronn are apparently just fans of the show. Aaaand has a special thing for old guys?
• busting the theory that Tormund is a spy White Walker because of blue eye.
• Jump scare from a fockin' chopped kid.
• Jamie and Bran are old friends.
• Sam FELL in his way down the Crypts of WinterFELL.
• Episode closes with Jamie's heart falling to his underpants when noticing creepy Bran instaed of Bran falling when seeing Jamie.
The music, my GOD! the first 15 minutes I was holding back the onion knights.
I'm so happy that it's back. FINALly. And none of the world trolls can spoil it to me. 'till next week atleast.
A REWATCH IS COMING
Why is this episode only 60 minutes long???
Good start, not really much happened, disappointed not to see Cersei naked...
Bran: i waiting, for an old friend.
The most dramatic series of all time....all MY time
I'm waiting for an old friend
A good start to the season. This is basically moving all the pieces in place setting up the rest of the show. It’s awesome seeing so many reunions.

Amazing opener to the final season. Hope the coming episodes will be longer though.
